The 10th edition of the Capital One-sponsored golf event known as "The Match" will air on November 21-22 on TNT Sports. The event will be held in Florida for the fourth time and will include several new features.The 2024 edition is called "The Match: Superstars" due to the fact that the participants are top stars of both sports and show business. The winner of the event will receive $1 million in prize money.The Match will be played on the Rees Jones Course at Breakers West Country Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. It is an 18-hole, 7,104-yard, par-72 course with a rating of 74.5 and a slope of 143.For the 2024 edition, The Match has designed a format that includes two competition days. The first day will feature two matches of two-man scramble, which will serve as the event's quarterfinals.The second day will feature the semifinals and finals in individual matches. The event will take place in the evening, and in addition to TNT Sports, will be broadcast on Max.The broadcast team includes Ernie Johnson and Trevor Immelman as commentators, and Kathryn Tappen as an on-course reporter. Two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson will join the broadcast as an on-course correspondent.The field of "The Match: Superstars""The Match: Superstars" will feature a field of eight players who, in addition to being major stars in sports or show business, are well-known golf fans.Five are former athletes: multi-time Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps, National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Famer Charles Barkley, Hockey Hall of Famer Wayne Gretzky, National Baseball Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. and six-time NBA All-Star Blake Griffin.The other three are the Academy Award nominees Bill Murray and Mark Wahlberg, and comedian and Grammy Award nominee Nate Bargatze.The first round pairings have been announced. Barkley and Griffey will face Murray and Gretzky, while Wahlberg and Phelps will take on Bargatze and Griffin.The match was first played in 2018, when Phil Mickelson defeated Tiger Woods in a round that spanned 22 holes. The event became known as "Tiger vs. Phil."Since then, the event has featured both golf stars and stars from other sports. Professional golfers who have participated include Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Rodry McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Jordan Spieth.Several stars from other sports have been regulars at the event, including Steph Curry and Peyton Manning. Among the players in the upcoming edition, only Charles Barkley has played before (2020). Barkley teamed up with Mickelson to beat Curry and Manning.Women made their debut at the event in February 2024. Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang joined Max Homa and Rory McIlroy to compete in stroke play format, with the Northern Irishman coming out on top.
