Why did Sahith Theegala wear a Green ribbon at the RBC Canadian Open?

The 2024 RBC Canadian Open is underway and some of the biggest names in golf have assembled at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. At Round 1 of the event, golf fans from around the world witnessed some great play from the likes of David Skins and Sean O'Hair.

However, another beautiful thing that was witnessed at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open was Sahith Theegala wearing a green ribbon. Seeing Theegala, many questioned why he wore the ribbon. The answer behind it is that a green ribbon is the international symbol for mental health awareness.

Theegala's pin at RBC Canadian also said the same. The American golfer's move comes after PGA Tour professional Grayson Murray took his own life on May 28, 2024. Since then, several golfers and athletes around the world have spoken about the importance of focusing on mental health.

Grayson Murray, who died aged 30, was a seasoned professional on the PGA Tour. In his career on the tour, Murray registered two victories. While his first win came at the Barbasol Championship in 2017, his next victory came this season when he won the Sony Open in Hawaii in January.
