The start of this NFL weekend could not have been any better, with a high-scoring match witnessing both teams fighting till the very last second. But alas, there can only be one winner and this time, The Rams topped The 49ers by two points.

Here are 5 players who made a difference in the game:

Jared Goff/QB/Los Angeles Rams:

The Rams 'signal caller' was in fine form Thursday night, throwing 292 yards on 28 attempts for 3 Touchdowns, with a passing accuracy of nearly 80%. At one point, he managed to complete 13 straight passes. To top that off, he had a clean slate for the night with no sacks or interceptions against his name.

He also showed off his arm strength and deep ball throwing ability with the longest completion of his career - a 47-yard pass to Sammy Watkins and a 31-yard pickup pass to Robert Woods.

Todd Gurley/RB/Los Angeles Rams:

Todd Gurley had a night to remember as he ran 113 yards on 28 attempts while catching 5 of his targets for 36 yards and scoring a match-high 3 Touchdowns. He was Rams' most reliable offensive player for the night as he averaged 4 yards per carry, which included a defence-splitting 29-yard run and a tackle-breaking 27-yard run.

This performance comes after an 88-yard and one TD show against the Redskins. Gurley now has 4 Touchdowns in 3 games this season.

Pierre Garcon/WR/San Francisco 49ers:

The 49ers' newest acquisition had a solid outing as he caught 7 of his targets for an impressive 142 yards, averaging 20.3 yards per reception. He also led the game in total receiving yards.

In between all of this, he came up with a mind-boggling 59-yard catch which resulted in a touchdown on the next play for the 49ers and was a defining factor in their attempt to make a comeback in the match.

Carlos Hyde/RB/San Francisco 49ers:

Coming into this game after a huge performance against the Seahawks, the hype around Hyde was pretty high and he did not disappoint, with an 84-yard rushing performance in 25 attempts, averaging 3.4 yards per carry with 10 receiving yards on 3 receptions and 2 touchdowns.

He was the 49ers' go-to guy in the running game with 21 more attempts than the next back Mostert. Hyde's longest run in this match was for 20 yards whilst he also showed us his gritty never say die attitude when, in the 4th quarter, he slipped near the end zone but gathered himself up to turn a case of lost yardage into a gain of 2 yards. He subsequently scored a touchdown on the next play.

Sammy Watkins/WR/Los Angeles Rams:

Sammy Watkins, Rams' new acquisition from The Bills this offseason, showed his route running prowess after some average performances against the Colts and Redskins in the last two games. He racked up 106 yards by hauling in 6 of his targets and also scoring 2 touchdowns in the process.

He also made it to the showtime highlight reel by latching onto a 47-yard screamer by QB Jared Goff. Unfortunately, Watkins had to retire to the dressing room in the 4th quarter due to a possible case of concussion, but he did his job for the Rams and got them the W.
