In November 2022, Jonnie Irwin revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer. The following February, it was disclosed that the disease had spread to his brain. As of February 2023, he has been undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of a treatment.

Jonnie Irwin, 49, has started receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of his treatment for terminal lung cancer. As lung cancer progresses, symptoms may include pain and shortness of breath due to fluid build-up, persistent cough, fatigue, muscle loss, and weight loss.

After visiting the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center in Newcastle on foot, Irwin shared a photo of the portable chamber he used. He captioned the photograph:

"And at the end of this walk...is this... #hyperbaricoxygentherapy."

Research has shown that hyperbaric oxygen therapy may increase the amount of oxygen in cancer cells, making them easier to kill with radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

In a recent interview with Hello! Magazine, TV presenter and broadcaster Jonnie Irwin made an emotional admission. He revealed that he's unsure how much time he has left to live after being first diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2020.

In hyperbaric oxygen therapy, a patient is placed inside a highly pressurized room or tube and allowed to breathe pure oxygen.

The increased pressure and oxygen levels in hyperbaric chambers can help fight cancerous cells, promote healing, and provide relief from the symptoms of various medical conditions.

Irwin, who is known for his role as an estate agent on 'A Place in the Sun' and 'Escape to the Country', has been open about his recent diagnosis of multiple sclerosis and how it has affected him and his family. He has three children: Rex, aged three; Rafa and Cormac, aged two.

Jonnie Irwin, who has been battling terminal lung cancer since February 2023, continues to undergo hyperbaric oxygen therapy. He also provides updates on his work and personal life.
