The official anthem of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017 was released yesterday and it is the first time any FIFA event anthem has had so many Indian connections, mainly because of the fact that India is the host nation and its national team will make their first appearance at a FIFA World Cup.The anthem showcases the world of FIFA U-17 World Cup in a 90-second video, with eminent personalities of the sport and the host nation coming together to put together a wonderful compilation that would surely get the excitement up for next month's mega event. That said, certain sections of Indian football fans were far from happy with the video, as evident from their reactions on Twitter. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's appearance at the end, notably, was a sore point for a majority of the Indian football fans wanting to catch a glimpse of Sunil Chhetri or IM Vijayan in the clip. Here are the reactions to the anthem release, most of it expressing disappointment at Tendulkar's cameo appearance.#NoSachin and i would have been a fan of this anthem! Football is a very big sport to be promoted by such small sportsman.Where is Chhetri?— DipankarJugran?? (@dipankargunner) September 4, 2017Just couldn't understand that thumbnail image! Why is @sachin_rt on that video? #missrepresentation— Sainath KM (@sainathkm) September 3, 2017Nice but what's sachin doing in this?— Simran (@AOdysseyJournal) September 3, 2017Why the fuck is Sachin there in the video? Why not Someone like a Baichung Or a Sunil?— Pramodh? (@Prammie35) September 3, 2017Why this sachin got involved— joydeep chatterjee (@itsbabaikul) September 3, 2017why do we have Sachin there and why does it feel like "Dhan dhana dhan goal" at least to me???— Deepesh Salhotra (@deepeshsalhotra) September 3, 2017Can't understand what Sachin is doing here. https://t.co/ojI0Oul52O— Siddharth Yadav (@SidRossoneri) September 3, 2017Why Sachin though?? Should've been somebody like Bhutia or I M Vijayan in the end! Or even Chhetri! https://t.co/Ouh3S32Gy0— Binu Tessy James (@BinuTessyJames) September 3, 2017Sachin.? Really.? Come on.!https://t.co/6wb4fDaaJi— MystiRoz (@MystiRoz) September 3, 2017Cheer on India. #U17WC Can we have our footballers do this though ? @IndianFootball https://t.co/bA6vuxLC3q— Anand Datla (@SportaSmile) September 3, 2017why was @chetrisunil11 not part of it ?? Bhutia and sachin parts stick out like a sore thumb— sajoo (@DkSajoo) September 3, 2017However, there is some rationale behind Tendulkar's cameo appearance in the video, as explained by these tweets. They needed an easily recognizable sportsman & sadly none of our footballers fit that bill right now.— Somnath Sengupta (@baggiholic) September 3, 2017I can see the logic behind Sachin. They're trying to go beyond the footballing audience here. It's the mass that needs reaching out to.— Chelston D'souza (@chelston_dsouza) September 3, 2017Every Indian football fan will watch the world cup. How many apart from this small group even knows there's a world cup here? Enter, Sachin.— Chelston D'souza (@chelston_dsouza) September 3, 2017Yes, I feel the same. And he is one of our greatest sporting icons. Connected with football as well.— Somnath Sengupta (@baggiholic) September 3, 2017He is the brand ambassador of Sony Six— football news india (@fni) September 3, 2017Sachin is an icon of our country & his support is always with football. So what's d problem if he is in d vdo.
