Ghana defender Stephen Offei, who was recently released by I-League champions Dempo, is set to join Goan outfit Vasco Sports Club, who will be competing in this season’s second division.
Although the deal is yet to be finalised, it was reliably learnt that Offei and the Goan club have finalised talks. The Ghanaian had told Sportskeeda that he wants to remain in India till the end of the season and as a result, is willing to accept the offer from Vasco, even though they are not in the I-League.
The 26-year-old, who has represented Ghana twice at international level, only appeared in the Goa League for Dempo and wasn’t even registered for the I-League.
But the central defender, who has played in the Israel’s top division and is a former teammate of current Swansea City striker Itay Shechter, will be a valuable addition to the Vasco squad, who recently appointed Subrata Bhattacharya as their head coach in their bid to return to the I-League.
