A Sanju Pradhan own goal followed by a late winner from Bikash Jairu ensures Jamshedpur FC left Mumbai with all three points in Thursday's Indian Super League (ISL) fixture.
The hosts did manage to pull one back late on but in their pursuit of a winner, they ended up conceding another and were left to rue their missed opportunities.
The win takes Jamshedpur temporarily to the top 4 and manager Steve Coppell was extremely pleased with his side's performance. The ISL debutants now have 22 points, equal with FC Pune City, who have played two games less.
"The foundation was set with the clean sheets that Subrata had early in the season. We lost only one game in six and I think that's a solid start.
"This was our fourth game in 11 days, we've gone across India twice. For us to pick up nine points which involved three away games, we're very happy about it. We rode our luck in the second half," Coppell stated.
By now it's well known that unlike other managers, Coppell rarely ventures on to his technical area to give instructions. He is usually seen standing within the players' dugout in his vintage super-model pose.
He comes across as one of the calmest managers in the ISL, managing to get the best out of his players from afar. In fact, it's his assistant, Wally Downes, who takes charge on the touchline, shouting orders. Asked about his reason for doing so, Steve had this to say.
"Wally has a louder voice than me. We're a team and it's not just about one man. I very much appreciate and value everything he does."
"I like to stay back and analyse, if you get too emotional, you can't really see what happens. It's good for him to shout because he has a louder voice. People shouting on the touch line does not make teams win. The players make teams win," he explained.
