What’s The Story?

One of the most prolific strikers in India, CK Vineeth, has shifted his colours to yellow from blue as he signed for Kerala Blasters after having three seasons with Bengaluru FC. Vineeth has recently revealed that he will not celebrate after scoring against Bengaluru FC as the club is very much close to his heart.

The Context:

The Sachin Tendulkar co-owned side will face Bengaluru FC on New Year ’s Eve in Kochi, and the striker would definitely look forward to score against his former club, but at the same time, he doesn’t want to celebrate against them.

Incidentally, Vineeth's Kerala teammate Sandesh Jhingan also played at Bengaluru FC for a season.

The Heart of the Matter:

The Kerala Blasters are all set to face defending champions ATK in the ISL opener on Friday and Vineeth will be looking to score against them since ATK defeated them in the last year’s final.

When asked about the possibility of scoring against Bengaluru, Vineeth said that he would not celebrate, if he scores against the Blues.

"I won't celebrate if I score against Bengaluru FC. I would like to score, but I definitely wouldn't celebrate. Because I not only respect them, but they are also close to my heart. A celebration would be an insult." said Vineeth. "It is easy to say these things, but you never know what is going to happen in that moment. I will try my maximum to not celebrate."

What’s Next:

Vineeth is looking forward desperately to the game against ATK. According to him, it is good to start proceedings against ATK, as it seems that they are starting from where they stopped. Revenge is definitely on the cards.

Author’s Take:

It’s a great gesture from Vineeth to say that he won’t celebrate against his former club. In the world of professionalism passing such gestures really feels like a breath of fresh air.
