ISL 2018-19: Ranking the kits of all 10 teams

Jamshedpur FC

The ISL spirit is back in full form and the teams have started the battling for the top positions.

With every season passing by, the overall standard has risen. This rise has been followed in every aspect including management and fans.

The biggest advance ever seen in ISL is kits. Every season has given better kits to the fans. Each management has taken great care in having the best threads among the 10.

Here, we take a look at the jerseys of all the teams this season and rank them.

#10 Jamshedpur FC

The Jamshedpur club has spent more time in practice, than on looks. They haven’t brought about any notable changes in the kits in the new season.

Jamshedpur FC brought in some big names like Tim Cahill, but decided to continue with their red jersey with blue sleeves.

The kit cannot be rated as the best in the league. Most teams have taken great effort in being the best in appearance. But the work by ‘Men of Steel’ has been poor in this department compared to their competitors. Although the colours are bright, it could have been improved in their second season.

#9 FC Pune City

FC Pune City is another team that has given priority to performance, above appearance. The last season semi-finalists have brought about some changes to the kit, opting for a solid orange jersey this time.

The Stallions were sporting the usual orange and purple colours till season 4. The purple has been taken out this time, adding more orange colour. The back of the jersey is completely a lighter shade of orange.

Many review the previous jersey a better one. A mixture of two colours would have been better than the solid orange.

#8 FC Goa

The Gaurs have shifted colours this season. They have moved into an orange-white combination from the typical Blue.

The team under Sergio Lobera had the all plain Blue kit till the last season. Though a pretty decent one, it was common among most ISL teams. This made the club opt for orange.

The top has white on the left and orange on the right side. The bottom is solid orange.

The change made by the club is appreciative, but the designers could have done better by choosing a better colour.

#7 ATK

The Kolkata giants have been consistent in their kits from the very first season of ISL. The red and white stripes have gained immense popularity.

The jersey similar to that of La Liga legends Atletico de Madrid (who had a share of ownership in the team previously) was highly rated by the football fanatics.

The management, however, took a decision to bring a minute alteration to this design. The kits used this season do not have the stripes on the chest. Earlier, the stripes used to continue all through the front, but now, the portion of the chest is left white blank.

The kits that were adopted from their former partners, without a blank portion on the chest was better.

#6 Kerala Blasters

Kerala Blasters FC

Kerala Blasters is a team that has remained constant in its colours right from the start. Apart from small detailing, the club has always been devoted to yellow.

The famous yellow has been a sensation among its fans - Manjappada. The yellow followed by very tiny touches of blue on the collars and sleeve make it worth a watch.

However, it finds a lower rank in the list because of better work from the competitors.

#5 NorthEast United FC

The Highlanders have always been in love with white. Their kits, unlike their performances, are constant in all the seasons.

NorthEast United has played most of their ISL matches wearing whites. Last season, they were too lazy, offering their players plain white jerseys.

Compared to the last season, the kits have been improved. Slight black and red on both the arms have added some quality to the white outfit.

NorthEast United would be hoping to add quality to their game, like their quality in kits.

#4 Mumbai City FC

Mumbai City FC has been wearing the blues for some time now. Although a common colour in ISL, it can be viewed as a fine form of blue.

Mumbai has made its appearances in a blue jersey with yellow sleeve cuffs. A light yellow dotted line runs through the front of the jersey making it finer.

Though continuing with the same kits from the previous season, the Mumbai franchise has a simple and good-on-field outfit.

#3 Delhi Dynamos FC

Delhi Dynamos is yet another ISL club in love with white jerseys. They have been in whites for 4 seasons now but have brought minor changes this season.

In the 2017-18 seasons, Dynamos were wearing a white jersey with red and blue dots on the shoulders. This time around, the club has opted for a much cleaner white with a small blue presence on the arms. It also has two red lines running through the shoulders.

The Delhi designers have done a good decent work not putting in a lot of colours and making things look worse.

#2 Chennaiyin FC

The current champions are also following the favourite blue. Even after the few changes made after different seasons, the overall outlook of the thread remains the same blue.

The Marina Machans had blue kits with white detailing last season. But this time, the management came up with a different combination of adding a black trimming to the old blue.

This hasn’t done the outfit any bad and continues to be one worth watching on the screens.

#1 Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru FC

Bengaluru FC has a set of fine threads for the season in my opinion. Although wearing the blue yet again, they are a treat to the eyes with the addition of red at selected spots.

The very previous season, Bengaluru FC had taken the field with the same blue attached to white, as stripes at the lower top and on the arms.

For the 2018-19 season, red has been mixed with blue as it was seen in the 2016-17 season. The latest kit has red features on the left arm and at the right-lower of the top.

The jersey looked an apt fit for the Bengaluru boys when they were playing the 2 matches this season. This makes it my favourite ISL kit for the season.
