Mohammedan Sporting Club have completed the signings of Aizawl FC defender Joe Zoherliana and NorthEast United FC winger Rochharzela on three-year contracts. The 24-year-old Zoherliana featured in 16 matches for Aizawl during the 2023-24 I-League, contributing four goals and an assist.

The right-back who began his career with the Shillong Lajong U18s, has also played 25 matches for NorthEast United FC. Despite being a part of the Bengaluru FC squad at the 2020-21 ISL, Zoherliana did not get an opportunity to don the blue jersey throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Rochharzela started his career with Aizawl FC, representing the club in 29 matches and scoring seven goals before joining the Highlanders in October 2020. The 26-year-old has so far featured in 46 matches for NorthEast United FC in which he has five goals and two assists to his name.

Unfortunately, he got to play just a solitary game for his team in the ongoing edition of the ISL, which was against the Kerala Blasters FC in a 1-1 away draw back in October 2023.

A fresh chapter in the 133-year history of Mohammedan Sporting Club

One of the oldest active football clubs in India, the Mohammedan Sporting Club, which was formed way back in 1891, will be heading into a new chapter in its 133-year history in the upcoming 2024-25 Indian footballing season. The club went on to clinch the recently concluded 2023-24 I-League by bagging 52 points from 22 matches, four points ahead of the second-placed Sreenidi Deccan.

Thereby, it became only the second club to be promoted to the ISL after the 2022-23 I-League champion, Punjab FC. Both Joe Zoherliana and Rochharzela would certainly be major domestic additions for Mohammedan Sporting Club ahead of the 2024-25 season as they look to reinforce the squad to compete at the highest tier of Indian football.
