Mumbai City FC midfielder Alberto Noguera is all set to depart as his current contract with the club will expire on Friday, May 31, the Islanders confirmed on Monday, May 27. The Spaniard joined Mumbai City from FC Goa in July 2022.

The 34-year-old, who was a part of the FC Goa squad that went on to clinch the 2021 Durand Cup, won the 2022-23 ISL Shield and 2023-24 ISL Cup Trophy with Mumbai City FC.

During his stay at FC Goa, the Madrid-based attacking midfielder scored five goals in addition to providing 10 assists.


Alberto Noguera produced a strong comeback during Mumbai City FC's title triumph

After featuring in four matches at the 2023 Durand Cup, Alberto Noguera was unfortunately sidelined for several weeks due to an injury. As a result, he had to miss his side's entire 2023-24 AFC Champions League campaign as well as the first 11 ISL matches of the recently concluded season.

Nevertheless, the ace midfielder came back much stronger and went on to feature in the next 11 consecutive ISL games for Mumbai City FC, during which he registered a goal and an assist.

Noguera was instrumental in the playoff matches as well providing a crucial assist in Mumbai City's 3-1 victory over hosts Mohun Bagan Super Giant in the 2023-24 ISL final, which was held at the colossal Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on May 4.

Noguera played three out of the four matches that the Islanders competed in during the 2024 Indian Super Cup. The veteran Spaniard recorded an assist in the cup tournament, where they lost by a 1-0 margin in the semifinals to hosts Odisha FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.

Alberto Noguera's departure would be a major loss for Mumbai City, given his ISL familiarity and immense experience.
