There seems to be no end to Arsenal's woes this season. On Thursday, they suffered a humiliating 1-2 defeat at home to Ostersunds in the Europa League. What was assumed to be a walk in the park for Arsene Wenger's men, soon turned into a nightmare.
Fortunately for them, they had managed to secure a 3-0 win in the first leg, which ensured their passage to the next round. However, the fact is the fans are far from happy. The Gunners are currently sixth on the Premier League table, a massive 27 points behind leaders, Manchester City and 7 points behind fifth-placed, Tottenham.
Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh, who is an Arsenal fan through and through, spoke to Sportskeeda in an exclusive chat on Friday.
The actor, who is an ambassador for the Premier League in India, was in Mumbai along with former Manchester United star Nemanja Vidic as a part of "The Football Movement", hosted by the Premier League, India on Track and the Department of International Trade, that discussed how the commercial growth of the sport in India can be attained.
Ranveer suggested that he is now tired of the poor results and doesn't want Wenger to remain at the club anymore. Singh reckons the fans have been far too loyal to the Frenchman and it's time to end that.
"That's a very sore subject man! It's a very emotional question. I am a loyalist by nature and for many years, I have believed in the Wenger way and his ethos. He plays the game the way it should be played," said Ranveer.
"But for the longest time, things have not been working. I know the fans have been using #WengerOut for four years now. It's only been about four weeks for me, but finally this season my heart is broken and I wish to get out of this love relationship with Wenger," he explained.
Asked about Manchester City's dominance in the league, Ranveer believes Pep Guardiola's men have been untouchable this season and reckons no club in England has the capacity to match them this year.
Having lost just a single game so far this season (27 matches), The Citizens look well on course to lift another Premier League trophy. If they do manage that, it will be their fifth ever title and the first since 2014, which they won under Manuel Pelligrini.
"I mean you have to give credit where it's due. Pep has really galvanised the team. It's not based on the merit of just one outstanding player, they're all playing well together. Everything good is happening for them at the same time, I wouldn't attribute that to just good fortune. I don't think it's possible for any team to catch them," he said.
Ranveer is currently shooting for "Gully Boy", an upcoming Hindi movie in which he will be playing a rapper from the slums of Dharavi, Mumbai. His character has shades of a thug and he reckons in former Manchester United defender, Vidic, he has spotted an extremely scary gangster.
"Nemanja Vidic, what a thug! He's a true champion. Thiery Henry, Viera, Robert Pires, I have been blessed to meet them. If I have to create a gang, I will make it with them. It's as thug as it gets. Vidic is hard as a nail, a scary figure. My first recruitment in the Gully Gang will be Vidic," he signed off.
