Hamish Rutherford (Otago Volts captain): We would have liked a win to be honest, but our bowlers did well to hang in there, especially Matthew Bacon, who bowled the perfect ball to keep the run down off the last one. Our bowling at the death has to get better, and we also need to make sure that runs come at the top of the order.

Robert O'Donnell (Auckland Aces captain): I thought it was a really tight game, but Dean is playing incredibly well at the moment and we all are finding it tough to get him out at the moment. We are getting to where we want to be, not quite there yet, but definitely getting to full tilt and it should only get better for us.

Dean Foxcroft (Game Changer): It was a great game for me, great game for T20 cricket, down to the last ball, so yeah, this was good! I backed myself to keep going and play according to the merit of the ball. I thought that it would be better to keep the scoreboard moving and not get bogged down, it obviously helped with the way Llew played and that made my work easier. I stuck to the basic lines and lengths with the ball and that paid off.

It was an exhilarating contest in Auckland with the match going right down to the wire! In the end, with one run required off the last ball, Matthew Bacon held his nerve to bowl a fine yorker, which William O'Donnell could not get under, and that ended up in a run out to close the game out in another dramatic fashion! To be honest, the match see-sawed right through the innings and perhaps the best result did unfold in the end.

However, there were noteworthy contributions with the ball from the Volts. Dean Foxcroft was superb with his four overs of off-spin, costing only 20 runs for a wicket. He backed up his half-century in the first innings rather well. Jacob Duffy was good too, picking up a couple of wickets and going for only 27 runs in his spell.

Some of the fielding in the deep from Hamish Rutherford's side was top notch and reasons as to why this match did not slip away from them in the end.

On the other hand, Auckland Aces saw four fine knocks from opener Cole Briggs, all-rounder Sean Solia, wicketkeeper-batter Ben Horne and William O'Donnell towards the end, to almost seal victory. But one of the top order players needed to go on and get a bigger score.

The pitch at Eden Park Outer Oval played really well for everyone. Now, both teams are on 6 points with the Aces having a game in hand.
