Warner shakes the hands of his friends and relatives who walk up to him. The baggy green he is wearing seems to be hanging on for dear life. The wear and tear of the cap showcases the longevity of the man.

Australia walk up to the stage erected on the field to take the Benaud-Qadir trophy, which is presented to the winners of any Test series played between Australia and Pakistan! And boy, do they look a happy bunch.

Pat Cummins is the PLAYER OF THE SERIES! Here is what he has to say: It has been fantastic. I loved the way the boys performed. Everything seemed to work this summer. I would say that we have made a great start to the summer. This pitch was quite different from how things were in Perth and Melbourne, but the boys did extremely well. On this pitch, you could not just survive. You had to put the pressure back onto the bowlers, and that is what both Marnus and David did. Josh (Hazlewood) has bowled extremely well all series without really getting a reward, and he showcased his skillset last night. It was a huge series for Mitchell (Marsh) and he showed why he is so highly rated. It's going to be very hard to replace David. He sets the game up with the way he plays. Everyone knows he has been phenomenal for Australia over the last dozen years or so. We will enjoy for the next few days. We have a week at home before we go to Adelaide for the West Indies series.

Masood presents a Babar Azam shirt signed by the entire Pakistan squad to Warner. The latter is overjoyed and can be seen shedding a few tears.

Shan Masood, captain of Pakistan: This feels a bit similar to Melbourne. We are learning things the hard way. It is a bit of deja-vu from Melbourne. When you face Australia in Australia, you expect them to come hard at you. However, we let the gate open and allowed them to come back at us. The key was to pick up wickets but Warner and Labuschagne counter-attacked and this allowed them to take the game away from us. I think we were quite a few runs short. This is a lesson to learn- it is a game of four innings and not just two. We are learning it the hard way. We have a few positives, especially in our batting. We need to convert fifties into hundreds, take the catches that come our way- basically take the one-percenters. We would also like to make a presentation to David Warner.

Aamer Jamal is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! Here is what he has to say: Definitely, I have waited long to get to this stage. First of all I would like to congratulate Australia, they had been brilliant in all the departments. It has been a feeling over the moon for me. I was trying to my basics right and just concentrate on that. I knew they will come hard at us. I just wanted to perform my best and focus on every ball. No, we have very talented Mir Hamza and Shaheen Afridi with the new ball and hence I will concentrate on being the first change or second change bowler.

David Warner: Yeah look it is pretty much dream come true. It has been a great 18-20 months for Australian cricket. The World Test Championship, the World Cup and then capping it off here. This has been brilliant. They have worked themselves up. The three quicks, Mitch Marsh they have been fantastic. I will not have to face them anymore in the nets, I don't any way. Yeah had some coffee with my family and tried to relax a bit. Look we are in the entertainment business. I look to play my shots and entertain the crowd. That is what I was trying to do today. They have been a big part of my career. My parents gave me the right upbringing and I will ever so thankful to them. It will be emotional for me to see them going out but not being there with them. I want to be remembered as David Warner, the entertainer. I hope few more kids follow my way, they start with white ball and then get to red ball cricket. Thanks to everyone!!!!

Warner walks out to shake the hands of the Pakistan players, and is treated with utmost respect. There are few in this world who match the courtesy, or adaab that Pakistanis display. In defeat, as in victory, they hold their head high.

More than Australia's stunning 3-0 clean sweep, it was the way Pakistan lost the series. They appeared listless at most times in this series and paid the price for doing so.

In elite sport, it is desire, temperament and character that differentiates victors from losers, and this is what happened in this series as well. Although they seemed to be in the game for big parts of this Test, their poor batting in the second innings allowed Australia to come back and dictate proceedings yet again.

Admitted that winning in Australia is tougher than it is in most countries, especially for teams from the Indian subcontinent, but had Pakistan shown enough desire in this series, things might have been different.

Australia were the better side in this series by far, and no one would admit it more than Pakistan themselves, but so will they about the lack of effort they put in whenever they seemed marginally ahead of their hosts.

Whenever Pakistan appeared to have a slight edge over Australia in the series, they decoded ways to implode and hand the advantage back to the latter.

For Australia, it was the David Warner story that dominated the New Year's Test here in Sydney, and it is only fitting that he hangs his boots with a half-century to his name in the second innings.

The hosts would have loved for him to be there till the end as Marnus Labuschagne hit the winning runs, but the cricket Gods had other plans, and it was not to be.

However, Australia win this game and effect a 3-0 clean sweep, and this is what Warner would have wanted the most. He walks off a rather proud man, with the Sandpapergate scandal relegated to the footnotes of the history he has managed to create for himself.

And that will be that!

It is just a matter of time here. A small note on how the commentators on air, especially Mark Waugh and Kerry O'Keefe seem to be mocking Sajid Khan for giving his best in trying to push Australia out of their comfort zone. For all intents and purposes, Sajid has bowled extremely well and pushed the Aussies to play from the crease, but the motley crowd sitting in air-conditioned lounges of their commentary box seem hell-bent on making fun of his 'scary eyes' and 'intent to get a virtual five-for.' All because he is doing (and finally managed to do) something that will change the script for one of their own, David Warner? Not for the first time perhaps, a few Australians have showcased why they are such poor sports when it comes to treating opponents from the subcontinent with respect. Sajid responded in fine fashion by bagging Warner's wicket and etching his name in history by becoming the last bowler to do so.
