And that's that! Australia will get an extra day of rest ahead of the test series against South Africa. They are off to a perfect start and they will look to carry on this momentum for the rest of the summer. The 1st test of the Australia vs South Africa series begins on Saturday (17th December). and we'll be here again to bring you all the action from that contest on Sportskeeda. It was a perfect series for Australia. Every player contributed in some way or the other. The batters looked defiant as ever and with the South Africa series coming up later this week, the Aussies have plenty of positives to look onto. Marnus, Smith and Head have scored big centuries. Five seamers have been used by the hosts in these two tests and all five of them stepped up whenever the team needed them to. Lyon continues to do what he does best. He now has 450 test scalps and the tally will only get better with every single match.

West Indies on the other hand will have very few positives from this tour. As Brathwaite mentioned, putting up some runs on the board against a quality attack, as they did in the first test is something they can be proud of. Tagenarine Chanderpaul was possibly the biggest positive for the visitors. He showed grit and determination in both tests while opening the batting. Devon Thomas had a decent debut, picking up a couple of wickets and also getting off to a start with the bat.

Steve Smith (Australia Captain): Nice toss to win. I think the boys batted really well on the first day. The partnership between Khawaja and Marnus and then Marnus and Head set up the game for us and then the bowlers did their job. Marnus is doing everything alright, can't say much, it will get to his head. He is working really hard in the nets and practising his strokes. Boland was spectacular last night and Neser made things happen. It's incredible how they have just come into the side directly and contributed for us. Multiple pacers competing for limited spots is exactly what we want ahead of a big series against South Africa

Kraigg Brathwaite (West Indies Captain): A disappointing tour, certainly. We fought hard in the first test but lost many guys due to injuries. We showed that we can spend time in the middle against a quality attack in the first test. We lost plenty of experience owing to the injuries but we can learn a thing or two from Australia. Tagenarine has been doing it for the last couple of years and now he has a great future ahead of him for the West Indies.

Marnus Labuschagne is the Player of the Series | 502 runs | Here's what he has to say: It's nice to be going through the patch and scoring runs consistently and teams winning consistently. At the moment, your preparing for the next match or the next series, you sit back at the end of your career and let these moments sink in. For now, I'm just focusing on the next match and the series, feels really good. I try must my game playing with the pink ball but it takes a little get used to when you compare it with the red ball as the pink ball has a lot of movement consistently. We've got a big series coming up against South Africa, just hope this form continues. That series will be something I'm looking forward, both teams have got great pace attacks and we will be up against each other.

Travis Head is the Player of the Match | 175 & 38* | Here's what he has to say: I'll take that 175 since I missed out on the ton last week, looking forward to the next week. It's been an amazing week, nice to have everyone here. It's brilliant batting with Marnus, he just let his bat do the thing and I try to do my bit. Full credit goes to the batters up top, they set us up nicely and laid the foundation for us to come in and build further. The coaching staff and every member of the support staff has been supportive.

Mitchell Starc: Nice start, gives us an extra day-off to prep for the next series but lot of positives from the last couple of weeks, great individual performances but also team performances. Came in fresh, just pointing for the stumps and pace. Both Hazlewood and Cummins made me do the hard work but Cummins should be back next week, we've got great depth with Boland, Neser and great signs for Australian pace bowling, we've got three good tests coming up. Boland does what he does best, hits the deck hard and has been brilliant. Batters have been awesome, they've set us up the game in both, we've been really dominant in the first innings and the openers get the starts, the bowlers just went about their business.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul 17(28) | Scott Boland 3/16 (10)

Australia have whitewashed the West Indies and with this win, they are one step closer to the World Test Championship Final. In the absence of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, there were some concerns with regard to the Australian pace battery heading into the second test. However, Boland and Neser filled in their shoes perfectly and played a big part in this victory.

The Aussies after winning the toss and opting to bat first were off to a great start. Despite a rare failure from the stand-in skipper Steve Smith, the hosts managed to put in a mammoth first innings total. Big hundreds from the run-machine Marnus Labuschagne and the local-boy Travis Head put Australia in the driver's seat. T

They declared just in time for the pink ball to misbehave under the lights. West Indies were once again not competent enough to put on a big score. Half-decent efforts from Chanderpaul and Phillip could only get the visitors to a little over 200. It was a combined effort from the bowling unit as they all found themselves among the wickets, but some poor running between the wickets made things worse for the Windies.

Smith decides to not enforce the follow-on. The Aussies despite their monstrous first innings lead, came on to bat for a couple of hours to give some rest to the bowlers.

Once again, the declaration came in the evening and the Windies were forced to face the new pink ball under the lights. Boland's spell last night was remarkable and possibly the highlight of the series. The Windies just capitulated in the fourth innings. None of their batters could get going while all the Aussie pacers bagged three scalps each to make a mockery of the visitors. Stay tuned for the presentation...

40.5 Michael Neser to Marquino Mindley, OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN! Neser wraps it up and Australia win the series 2-0! That was another sharp take from Carey, diving to his right, clings on to it one handed and West Indies have been demolished on Day 4 here. Back of a length, in the channel again as Mindley goes poking and takes a healthy edge to Carey to his right.
