Afghanistan, batting second - 218 all out in 45.1 overs; Najibullah Zadran 54 (61)

Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 88 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series.

Player of the Match: Liton Das 136 (126) (16x4, 2x6)

It was a very comfortable victory in the end for Bangladesh, with all the bowlers, including Mahmudullah and Afif Hossain, taking wickets. Right from the start, the bowlers were able to get the Afghanistan batters out to put a lot of pressure on them and that continued right till the end, with only one partnership of substance in the middle.

Rahmat Shah and Najibullah Zadran brought up their respective 50s and put up a good 50-run partnership to try and give Afghanistan a chance in the 2nd innings, but once Taskin Ahmed came back to get both of them out, it was all one-way traffic from there.

The Afghanistan batting lacked rotation of strike right through the innings and the intent to go after the bowling towards the end.

With the ball, Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan were very economical, while the rest of bowlers kept it tight for most parts. The captaincy from Tamim Iqbal was splendid, as the bowling changes and the field settings were impressive and looking for wickets most of the time.

Liton Das was rightly adjudged the player of the match for his 5th ODI hundred and the partnership he got with Mushfiqur Rahim was the talking point of the match. Afghanistan were guilty of giving away extras in excess of 30 runs, which they will look to improve on in the next game.

That is all that we have for you from the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram! There is one more match remaining in the series, so do join us for that one to see if Bangladesh can whitewash their South Asian opponents at home! For now, this is the pair of Pradeep and Bidipto, saying good bye! Keep following Sportskeeda!

Tamim Iqbal (Captain, Bangladesh): The partnership between Mushfiqur and Liton was great and then the bowlers finished the job. Taskin has been brilliant in getting the necessary wickets at the right times. We have to keep winning now, there is no let-off when the purple patch is struck.

Player of the Match, Liton Das: Not that I was not scoring runs, but the format difference took a bit of a toll. Great to get the runs though with Mushfiqur Rahim. My idea was to bat long today and it worked thankfully.

Hashmatullah Shahidi (Captain, Afghanistan): Yes, the plan didn't work to win the toss and bowl first, we leaked too many runs up front and that set up the tone for them. Liton and Mushfiqur were brilliant with the bat, built a big partnership to set the game up for them. Honestly, we wanted to restrict them to 260, we gave away lot many extra runs and that's where we lacked today. We will work on not conceding too many extras from next game.
Bangladesh get the job done in 45.1 overs and win the match by 88 runs!
45.1 Afif Hossain to Fazalhaq Farooqi, OUT! OFF-STUMP PEGGED BACK AND IT'S ALL OVER! Full delivery on the off-stump, Farooqi looking to drive but misses, through and off-stump goes for a walk. Bangladesh win the series with one game to go!

Fazalhaq Farooqi b Afif Hossain 0 (1)
Afif Hossain, right-arm off-spin, is in to bowl.

Bangladesh are looking to hurry through the overs with spin and also looking to entice these tail-enders to take on the slower bowling, and get caught in the deep in the process. And that was exactly what happened with Mujeeb against Mahmudullah! A fantastic catch at long-on from Mahmudul Hasan Joy! Afghanistan now are 9 down, requiring 89 off 30 balls.

44.2 Mahmudullah to Mujeeb Ur Rahman, OUT! SCREAMER BY JOY AT DEEP MID-WICKET AND HAS TO GO! Umpire goes upstairs just to confirm things! Good length delivery on the off-stump, Mujeeb goes down his knee to slog sweep, he doesn't connect, goes in the air and the fielder at deep mid-wicket inches behind the ropes judges the catch to perfection, holds on to it but the momentum takes it over, he let's the ball go and then comes back to pouch it!

Third-umpire confirms that's a clean catch and Mujeeb has to go!
