Commentary

That brings us to the end of our coverage for Bangladesh vs Ireland ODI series. The home team continued their swansong in their home conditions, registering another series victory. We will be back with the three-match T20I series starting from March 27 in Chattogram. Can Ireland make a comeback or will Bangladesh continue their domination? Do join us then to find out. Tamim Iqbal (Bangladesh captain): Unbelievable performance. I think the way we played the whole series was very nice. The way the fast bowlers bowled today was exceptional. I can now proudly say that we have a solid fast bowling attack. Not sure if it has ever happened in Bangladesh that the fast bowlers have taken all 10 wickets. Players like Miraz when they start performing with the bat, we can always go with a batter short. In the bowling department, we covered everything. There will be ups and down going forward but this unit has all the things to become the best in the world. I thought the wicket was very good in the evening. The way we chased down with authority gave a good message to the opposition. A great knock from Liton. If you remember that in a press performance a few weeks ago I said that we will be playing on good wickets.

Mushfiqur Rahim (Player of the Series): We had another series win. All the boys chipped in really. Doesn’t matter who is playing the first game or the 200th game, everyone contributed. To be honest, the condition was very good to bat on I think I just went out there and expressed myself. I think all the batters chipped in the top order. When you are an all-rounder you have to chip in with both gloves and the bat.

Hasan Mahmud (Player of the Match): I am grateful to everyone. This is my first five-wicket haul and I am very excited. It was more like for fast bowlers and we enjoyed a lot. I think Allan Donald is behind all the hard work, day by day we are gradually improving ourselves so I am very happy for that. We are working so hard, using the new ball to move away and hit the right channels.

Andy Balbirnie (Ireland captain): We were very disappointed. The cricket we have played over the last three days doesn't reflect what we have done in the last two years. Naturally, when you come here you expect spin to play a major role. But their pacers are top draw. We had a pretty good World Cup in Australia. Bangladesh won 3-0 against the world champions, so we need to be at our best. I think our fielding has been okay. Our bowlers have tried hard, it hasn't been easy for them. But the batting has let us down!

The target of 102 was never going to pose a threat to Bangladesh but it didn't look like they would chase it down in a canter. Tamim Iqbal put the Irish bowlers to the sword right from over one and Ireland could never really recover from that.

It was an array of shots all around the ground from both batters. Litton took the onus from Tamim to find the boundaries and did that in a commendable fashion. While Tamim struck 5 fours and 2 sixes, Litton's knock was decorated with 10 hits to the fence.

While Tamim remained uneaten on 40, Litton went onto score a brilliant half-century in the penultimate over of the match. Tamim Iqbal then fittingly dabbed one back-of-a-length delivery towards the deep third-man region to seal the deal for Bangladesh.

Ireland needs to put this behind and look to come out with a positive frame of mind in their future assignments. Earlier in the day it was a magnificent spell of fast bowling from Hasan Mahmud who bagged a fifer and played a crucial role in skittling out Ireland for just 101 runs inside the 29th over.

He was right on the money with his inswingers and kept troubling the batters with his nagging length. Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain also chipped in with important wickets, bagging 3 and 2 each.

What an emphatic victory for Bangladesh. Ireland run ragged and has been completely annihilated by Bangladesh. This is also the first time, Bangladesh has won an ODI with all 10 wickets in hand. Ireland can only go forward from here, especially after a thumping defeat. Cricket is a great leveller and Ireland shouldn't lose heart and try to compete better in their next assignments.

13.1 Curtis Campher to Tamim Iqbal, THAT'S IT! BANGLADESH WIN BY TEN WICKETS! Length delivery outside-off, Tamim runs it down to third for a single. This brings up a dominant victory and also wraps up a 2-0 victory for the hosts. This is also Bangladesh's first ten-wicket victory in ODIs!

Liton Das reaching a well-deserved half-century and Bangladesh are just a run away from a series victory. What a domination this has been. The Tigers are making a big statement ahead of the World Cup. They will be a formidable unit in the showpiece event, make no mistakes about that.
