It's not the end of the action today though. Coming up, it's an all-African rivalry as South Africa prepares to take on Zimbabwe at the same venue. Hopefully, the rain stays away in that game. You can just switch tabs to catch all the live action from that one. That's all we have from the coverage of this match though. This is Pratyush, signing off on behalf of my partner, Mohul. Happy Diwali, folks. Stay safe!
Right then. You could sense the relief in Shakib Al Hasan's voice as his side registers their first win in this round of the T20 World Cup. It's a good start for the team to build on but they'll know there's plenty of work to be done as well. As for the Dutch, one bad phase of play might have cost them the game today but their task doesn't get easier as they play India in their next match.
Scott Edwards (Netherlands captain): Our bowlers were sensational. 145 was 15-20 below par. It was awesome from them (the bowlers) and we thought we were well and truly in control. Not ideal (with the bat) but Colin and Paul were great in the end. Hopefully, we can bring a better performance with the bat and put in more of a challenge (in the next game).
Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh captain): It was very important to get the win. Since 2007, I've played all of them and never won (in the second round). That was at the back of my mind and that's why we were a bit nervous. But we knew with our bowlers, 145-150 would be a good score. The fast bowlers were tremendous. We understand the importance of fast bowling now. We've found some very good young fast bowlers. Hasan Mahmud is one of them, Taskin has been leading the attack. (Fielding and catching) That's one area we thought we can be one of the best in the world with the young guys around. Even if we save 5-10 runs, that can make a big difference.
Taskin Ahmed, Player of the Match: Very pleased with this performance. I stuck to my basics and tried to pitch the ball in the right areas. I tried to shape the ball well and thankfully, everything came off today. I am working with Alan Donald on the positioning of my wrist; this will, hopefully, help me swing the ball both ways. Very excited about the rest of the tournament. The boys did really well today.
Bangladesh seal the deal and win by 9 runs.
Afif Hossain - 38 (27) | Taskin Ahmed - 4/25 Colin Ackermann - 62 (48) | Paul van Meekeren - 2/21
Bangladesh record their first-ever win in the Super 12s stages of the T20 World Cup. It wasn't as straightforward from the start but Bangladesh have managed to make easy work of this game to seal the deal and kickstart their tournament with a win. In a group where it's expected to be a dogfight for points, each and every win will matter. After a topsy-turvy innings with the bat, they managed to get to a decent total courtesy of cameos from Afif and Mosaddek Hossain.
In reply, the Dutch got off to the worst possible start, losing two wickets in the first two deliveries with Taskin Ahmed running riot. If that wasn't enough to derail their run chase, the two runouts that followed surely did the damage as the team in orange shot themselves in the foot. Recovery from there was always going to be a tough task after losing four wickets in the Powerplay and that's exactly what happened.
Colin Ackermann fought on like a lone warrior in this game but never had any sort of support from the other end. His first T20I century came in a losing cause but it was a fighting knock nonetheless. Paul van Meekeren played a handy cameo in the end but was too little, too late for his side.
Taskin Ahmed was the star of the show for Bangladesh as he eventually ended up with a four-fer. Hasan Mahmud was brilliant as well as he bagged a brace while Shakib, Mustafizur and Sarkar did a fine job to provide support. The Dutch never recovered from their early wobble and will feel they've let one slip after a brilliant bowling performance in the first half of this game.
Let's see what the captains have to stay at the presentation.

19.6 Soumya Sarkar to Paul van Meekeren, OUT! Fullish on middle, van Meekeren goes for another MAXIMUM but only manages to hit it straight to the fielder at deep midwicket, Litton Das, who makes no mistake at all. A courageous effort from van Meekeren, and one that will make him very proud. The Dutch came very close, but the reality is that Bangladesh won this match by 9 runs!
All Sarkar needs to ensure now is that he doesn't overstep.
19.5 Soumya Sarkar to Paul van Meekeren, fullish on middle, van Meekeren swings at it yet again and only gets a TOP EDGE to long off for a couple of runs.
What a shot! Paul van Meekeren has still kept this game alive. Barely, but it's still alive.
19.4 Soumya Sarkar to Paul van Meekeren, SIX! Low fulltoss on middle and leg, van Meekeren swings at it and times the ball to perfection. He sees the ball go past the deep square leg fence for a HUGE one!
19.4 Soumya Sarkar to Paul van Meekeren, WIDE this time!
19.3 Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, low fulltoss on middle, clubbed to long on for a run.
19.2 Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, fullish outside off yet again, Klaassen hits it over cover for a couple of runs. The fielder at deep cover does well to stop it.
19.1 Soumya Sarkar to Fred Klaassen, fullish outside off, Klaassen lofts it away for a couple of runs.
Final over to go. The Netherlands need 24 runs to win. Shouldn't be any surprises here, to be honest. Surely, Bangladesh won't throw this one away?
