Commentary

Right. The first match is done and dusted, with rain being the eventual winner. The bad news is that the second ODI also takes place at the same venue and the weather updates for Saturday aren't promising either. Fingers crossed. 8:30 PM local time (8:00 PM IST): The inevitable has happened. The umpires had a long wait and finally decided to call it off. New Zealand won't mind this as they didn't live up to the expectation with the bat early on and were reduced to 16-2. Then, the partnership between Young and Nicholls helped them to weather the storm but once the duo negotiated the early phase, they dealt in ones and twos, struggling to pick up the boundaries

After the drinks break, Young upped the ante and brought up his half-century but Nasum's double strike swung the momentum in Bangladesh's favour again. With Litton set to plague the lower order with spin, rain interrupted again and continued to play the hide-and-seek game. After an almost two-hour wait, the umpires decided enough is enough.
