Commentary

That brings us to the close of the second T20I match of the 5-match series with Bangladesh securing a 2-0 lead. Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh Captain) - First of all, all the bowlers bowled really well. We can't control the rain, it is not easy for the batters but we have to manage all those things. There are a lot of areas where we can improve. They can do well as well, they batted well in the middle overs. But, the bowlers bowled really well. The way Litton and Tanzid batted, it helped our team, the 40-odd runs and then finished by Towhid and Mahmudullah. The next match will be a day one, we will have to prepare accordingly.

Towhid Hridoy (Player of the Match, 37* off 25 balls): All I thought was to finish the game in the best way possible, according to the situation. It definitely felt great that I was there when we got over the line! These are the knocks that give me a lot of confidence!

Sikandar Raza (Zimbabwe captain): I think we definitely let ourselves down with the bat, we didn't score runs up front, left it too late and lost wickets along the way. I must say that both Brian Bennett and Johnathan Campbell played really, really well! But, we have to do better with bat in hand. In the second innings, I don't think our bowlers could have bowled any better in those conditions. Wet ball and breaks in the middle never helped, but, we have to improve as a unit for sure.

Bangladesh have survived a scare led by a couple of spirited individual performance from Zimbabwe and have taken a 2-0 lead in the 5-match T20I series.

Chasing a modest 138 to win, Bangladesh were on course when openers Tanzid and Litton almost batted out the powerplay putting on 41 runs. Tanzid was dismissed and then there was a good phase for the visitors who managed to take 3 wickets in a space of 4 overs conceding just 21 runs.

We also had a few spells of rain on either side of that which broke the momentum of the batters and did not help their cause. Luke Jongwe got a couple of wickets in the 10th over and the match was right in the balance.

Jaker Ali scored a crucial 13 runs but it was really the pair of Towhid Hridoy and the experienced Mahmudullah who took charge of the proceedings and saw their team home with an unbeaten 49* run partnership.

For Zimbabwe, it was their batting which let them down again, specially their top order. They could not get any runs today as well and struggled for any kind of fluency in their innings as they managed just 38 in the first 10 overs. It was a refreshing and a much needed partnership between debutant Johnathan and Bennett who scored crucial 40s and took Zimbabwe to respectability.

The Bangladesh bowlers shared the wickets among them with Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain taking 2 each.
