Commentary

It has been a disappointing season for the Barbados Royals as they sink to another massive defeat. They were never really in the game during the run chase, having lost wickets almost every over in the powerplay. There was no way back for them as St Lucia Kings stamps their authority. Sikandar Raza (St Lucia Kings captain): As I said, this group is very hungry. We are hungry to play games. It makes my job a lot easier. I thought that the score was good but didn't think it was that good. We know what their openers can do. We let our spinners bowl in the middle overs but the way the fast bowlers bowled in the powerplay was exceptional. We certainly had plans but the reason I was smiling that I was thinking about two options but my gut feeling said to go with Primus.

Rovman Powell (Barbados Royals captain): A tough day in the office. Nothing went our way. We just didn't bat well, bowled well and field well. One of those days in the office. After you keep on losing games so badly you have to sit down with the management. Hopefully, we will have a few hard work and make a few changes.

Johnson Charles (Player of the Match): We know that Kyle Mayers will come. He is a dangerous bowler swinging into the left-hander. I wanted to take charge in the powerplay. I mean I have to take up the mantle that Faf is gone. Munro is a very good player. Yeah I am enjoying my wicketkeeping. I have been picked for the role and I will try to do that to the best of my abilities.

What a dominating show from the St Lucia Kings as they storm past the Barbados Royals by 90 runs to cement their place at the top half of the points table. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were never really in the game. It was like a meek surrender and eventually, they were bowled out for just 105 inside the 18th over.

The start was a disastrous one for the Royals as they lost Kyle Mayers in the very first over of Matthew Forde. There was a rain break for about 45 minutes but thankfully there was no over-reduction. Cornwall smashed a couple of sixes and a four in the 3rd over for Forde but departed in the very next over of Alzarri Joseph. The Speedster was cranking up some good pace and nicked off Laurie Evans on his very first delivery.

The ship kept sinking further with Rovman Powell trying to pull one of Roshon Primus over mid-off and ended up cue-ending that straight to the mid-off fielder. Primus bagged one more in his first over as the Royals were reduced to 40/5 inside the powerplay.

There was a brief little stand between Jason Holder and Nyeem Young but that was always going to be in a losing cause. Holder tried to swing across the line and was holed out deep midwicket while Khary Pierre accounted for the wicket of Young. In the end, it was Alzarri Joseph, quite fittingly who finished the match off by dismissing Obed McCoy.

17.3 Alzarri Joseph to Obed McCoy, WICKET! That's the game for the St Lucia Kings. What a massive win, they win by 90 runs. That was a fuller-length delivery outside off, McCoy tries to go for the extra cover drive, ends up skewing that up in the air, the cover fielder back tracks and makes it look easy.

17.2 Alzarri Joseph to Obed McCoy, FOUR! That was a brute of a delivery that runs away from the face of McCoy's bat, it was travelling. Raza was there in sllp but only gets a finger tip, McCoy tried to evade that but it runs away off his bat face and off to the fence.

17.1 Alzarri Joseph to Qais Ahmad, a gentle half volley on the pads, flicked away towards the deep fine leg region and has to be content with a single.
