That brings an end to the coverage of this nerve-wracking thriller from the Montjuïc Olympic Ground. Ecstasy for the Tigers and agony for the Men in Blue. My co-commentator Lavil Saldanha and myself, Sooryanarayanan Sesha, are off to catch our breath after this epic encounter! Thanks for tuning in to our live coverage which we hope you enjoyed as much as we did bringing it to you. Do switch tabs and follow all the other cricketing action across the globe as it unfolds. Until next time though, you take care! Toodles!
WHAT A THRILLER! Edge of the seat stuff! 125/2 is what the Catalunya Tigers CC put up after opting to bat first. The protagonist of that innings was Yasir Ali who slashed, pulled and even ramped his way to an unbeaten 79 off just 37 balls, striking 6 boundaries and 8 sixes along the way. The Tigers motored along at a consistent pace throughout the innings and a couple of cameos from Saqib Latif and Shahzaib Akram got them to that score of 125. Barring Abhishek Borikar, the Men In Blue bowlers, and especially their fielders were largely all over the place on what was a good wicket to bat on. They sent down as many as seven wides during that first innings.

It was not going to be an easy defence by any means for the Tigers, despite having the runs on the board, considering the struggles of their bowling attack in the tournament thus far. And the way the Men In Blue began their quest of the target, it was all one-way traffic for a large part of the chase. That was until Asad Ali came on and delivered an over for the ages, conceding just two runs and picking up the wicket of the well-set Shankar Kaligatla. The equation suddenly mounted to 48 off the last 3 overs and another quiet penultimate over from Asad meant that the Men in Blue needed 24 off the final over.

Shubhdeep Deb wasn't done yet though and he clobbered 8 sixes of his own en route to a 31-ball 68 and the hearts of the Men In Blue were shattered when he holed out of a rather ordinary delivery when they needed 8 runs off 2 balls. Amir Abbas didn't overstep or send down a wide off the last ball, meaning that a final ball six from Sanjeev Tiwari was all but futile in the end. The Catalunya Tigers thereby consolidate their position at the top of the points table in their group by a solitary run!
WOW! THE BAREST OF MARGINS INDEED! Such a heartbreak for the Men in Blue who were in control for a large part of that run chase but the pressure of a mounting run rate eventually gets the better of them!
Over: 10 | Summary: 6 2 2 6 W 6 Bowler: Amir Abbas Score: 124/3
9.6 Amir Abbas to Sanjeev Tiwari, SIX! Barest of the victories for the Catalunya Tigers! Back of a length delivery on the middle stump, Tiwari pulls the ball really hard over the ropes and it goes all the way for a six. A bit too late for the Men In Blue as they lose the match by a run, a solitary run
9.5 Amir Abbas to Shubhdeep Deb, CAUGHT! Back of a length delivery on the line of the off stump, Deb looked to pull the ball, gets a thick outside edge but is unfortunate to be caught at the short fine leg region
9.4 Amir Abbas to Shubhdeep Deb, SIX! Full-length delivery on the line of the middle stump, Deb clears the ball really well as he uses the pace on the ball and sends it down the ground for a six
9.3 Amir Abbas to Shubhdeep Deb, back of a length delivery on the line of the off stump, Deb skies this one in the air, but dropped safe and the pair run really hard for a brace
9.2 Amir Abbas to Shubhdeep Deb, full length ball outside the off stump, Deb looked to clear the infield but the fielder gets a hand on that one and the pair run a brace
9.1 Amir Abbas to Shubhdeep Deb, SIX! Full length delivery on the line of the middle stump, Deb clears the front foot on that occasion and sends the ball high and handsome for a huge maximum
How did it come down to this? The Men in Blue were in cruise control at the end of the sixth over but Asad Ali might have just delivered the spell that seals the game for the Catalunya Tigers. Unless we have a Carlos Brathwaite moment coming up...
