That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this LPL eliminator between Galle Gladiators and Colombo Stars. This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of my partner Arya Sekhar Chakraborty. See you soon!
Angelo Mathews: We leave another day, another fight. It was a tricky wicket. The bowlers were brilliant today. Rajitha. Nabi all were fantastic. We knew it wasn't an easy wicket to start off. We were hitting the ball and trying to make contact and run hard. We then got used to the wicket but it was stll not easy to score off. Yeah, Kandy are a very good team. they have got the firepower in all the departments. We cant thin about the past, new day new conditions. Give yourself a chance and let's see.
Kusal Mendis: Yeah I think, earlier little bit hard to play. Moisture after rain, this is why we were struggling. I think 140, 130 is a very good score. Their bowlers have done well in the last three games. Young boys doing very well in this tournament.
Ravi Bopara, Player of the Match- I've had a good run against the Galle Gladiators and I've enjoyed playing against them. The wicket wasn't easy to bat on but we decided to take our time and get ourselves in. Once we got in it became a lot easier for us. Mohammad Nabi has been a great addition for us and he has done a really good job with the ball.
Colombo Stars win by 7 wickets (with 7 deliveries to spare) Match reduced to 18 overs per side
Colombo Stars 109/3 in 16.5 overs Ravi Bopara 43(28) | Imad Wasim 1/18 Angelo Mathews 20(35) | Nuwan Pradeep 1/21
The Colombo Stars struggled a bit in the middle overs but have managed to get over the line and leave to fight for another day. Dinesh Chandimal got off to a quickfire start but had to depart early. His partner Madhushka had a struggle out there in the middle and couldn’t get any momentum to his knock.
Charith Asalanka and Madhushka tried to resurrect the innings with a partnership. They both failed to find the gaps and were eventually dismissed in quick succession. With the score reading 44/3, the pressure was on the Colombo Stars. Ravi Bopara and Angelo Mathews forged together an unbeaten stand and ensured that the Stars reached the target without any more hiccups.
Bopara cut loose against Nuwan Thushara who had proved to be the best bowler for the Gladiators in the tournament. He took him part in the 15th over which yielded 17 runs and totally tilted the scales in favor of the Colombo Stars.
Another expensive over followed and it was a no-ball from Wahab Riaz which sealed the game for the Colombo Stars. They will now meet the Kandy Falcons in Qualifier 2 tomorrow.
Earlier in the day, it was the Galle Gladiators who struggled their way to 108/9 in 18 overs after the match began a bit late due to rain. Only Shahan Arachchige could make an impact for the Gladiators, scoring a well-compiled 53 off just 31 deliveries on a sticky wicket when run-scoring was relatively difficult.
The pace trio of Kasun Rajith, Suranga Lakmal and Dominic Drakes bowling brilliantly. Benn Howell took three wickets towards the end while Rajitha and Nabi bagged a couple each.
17.0
Colombo Stars win by 7 wickets and 1 over to spare!
16.5 Wahab Riaz to Angelo Mathews, Mathews flicks the fullish-length delivery down towards the deep square leg region for a single. That is the match as the umpire has called a no-ball.
16.4 Wahab Riaz to Ravi Bopara, back of a length delivery on middle and nudged away towards the on side for a single.
16.3 Wahab Riaz to Ravi Bopara, FOUR! That is crunched away down the ground for a boundary. On the fuller side just a shade ouside off. Was a juicy half volley and that has been smashed down the ground.
16.2 Wahab Riaz to Angelo Mathews, that has been nudged away towards the on side for a single.
16.1 Wahab Riaz to Ravi Bopara, on the fuller side around off. A defensive shot towards the off side but gets on with the single. Bopara would have been a goner had Wahab's foot did the job there. Couldn't quite hit the bullseye.
Wahab Riaz [3.0-0-17-0] back into the attack.
Ravi Bopara has played an absolute gem of an innings here! The Gladiators were trying to comeback into the game but he has snatched it away from their grasp. Just 9 runs needed for victory now in the final two overs of the innings.

15.3 Lakshan Sandakan to Angelo Mathews, shortish a shade outside off. Mathews rocks back and thumps that straight down to the sweeper cover fielder.
15.2 Lakshan Sandakan to Ravi Bopara, fuller-length around off. Pushed away towards the deep cover region for a single.
15.1 Lakshan Sandakan to Ravi Bopara, FOUR! It's the perfect start to the over for Colombo Stars. Was a tossed-up delivery from Sandakan on a length around off, Bopara makes some room and tries to carve it away towards point. Gets an outside edge which runs away towards deep third man for a boundary.
