Commentary

Well, Kandy Falcons will be up against the Jaffna Kings and that will be a thrilling contest looking at their previous battles in LPL. Who will join the Marvels in the mega-final on Sunday? We will find that out in a couple of days, but until then, this is Pragadeesh and Arya signing off

Wanindu Hasaranga (Kandy Falcons Captain) - I trusted Dasun and Kamindu as always. Dasun, he performed really wellin the first game and we all know his capability with the bat. We knowthat finished a lot of games for Sril Lanka as well and I trust him.Credit should go to the bowlers especially with the new ball and thebatters finished things well

Thisara Perera (Colombo Strikers Captain): I have to thank my owner who believed in us so much. It happens in cricket. Throughout the series as a bowling unit we did a great job. Yeah so I think I have to say that Kamindu and Dasun batted brilliantly under pressure. Yeah it's getting better and better from the first year. I want to thank the LPL organisation. Hopefully we can do something special next year.

Kamindu Mendis Player of the Match): It was a really good game. Credit goes to every bowler. When I went to the middle, it was like 60 off for five wickets so I wanted to build a partnership. My plan with Shanaka was to stay there till the end.

The Strikers are knocked out in front of their home fans. It looked like a competitive score at the halfway mark and they managed to pick up wickets to stay ahead in the contest. In fact, they had an upper hand when Chaturanaga got dismissed but the partnership between Kamindu and Shanaka shattered all their hopes

They never showed any tentativeness in their approach. Shanaka, in particular, was going all guns blazing and never allowed the bowlers to settle down, while Kamindu was complimenting his partner by smashing boundaries at regular intervals. The all-or-nothing approach from the top-order batters didn't work as they lost half their side for 65 but the highlight of the match was that fearless 59-run stand between Kamindu and Shanaka

When it looked like a smooth sailing, Binura got rid of Shanaka and Kamindu had no answers to Pathirana's unplayable delivery but Mendis and Gomes stuck till the end to steer the team over the line
