An excellent performance by Emirates Red as they get on the board for the Emirates D10 2023. It was set up by a magnificent half-century by Uzair Haidar, who powered them towards a massive total of 137 which was always going to be difficult to scale as far as the Emirates Blues were concerned. The start was promising but alas, they just had far too much to do.

Skipper Alishan Sharafu was always going to be key to their cause and he made an early statement with a six off the first ball he faced. 18 runs came off the opening over before Clinton Berkenshaw took matters into his own hand with a tight over that also saw Ansh Tandon, who was looking dangerous, sent back to the hut. Farhan Babar then kept the runs coming himself while Sharafu continued with his merry ways at his own end. A couple of quick wickets followed though as the asking rate went up, transferring pressure back onto Sharafu.

Once Muhammad Asif had Sharafu stumped, it signaled the end for the Blues, who just had far too much to do thereafter. Asif bowled the odd one in the slot, but continued to have the final say as he chipped away at will to end with four crucial wickets. Each of them ensured that the Blues simply had no way back as the required rate mounted even further. Wasim Akram then fired his yorkers in the penultimate over and the bowlers wrapped up a facile win, even as a number of catches went down towards the end. Thankfully, they didn't hurt Emirates Red as they registered their first points.

With their first win under their belt, Emirates Red will look to build on this and garner good momentum for the rest of their campaign. As for the Blues, they've now lost three on the bounce and are reaching desperate times where they need to strike a winning formula. They have plenty to ponder over and work on before their next game.

A comfortable victory in the end for Emirates Red. They've made life very difficult for the Blues today and have turned in a fine display across departments.
