Player of the Series, Rassie van der Dussen: We were actually in a very good position today and were getting set to post a big total, courtesy Quinny and Aiden but you really cannot do anything when the weather turns against you, can you? But it could have been really interesting today. It is a shame that it did not work out. We were disappointing with the bat in the second game, otherwise, are preparations for the World Cup are on course. My job is to bat out the power play and bat long, and I will continue to do so, to help the team get into good positions going into the final few overs of an innings.

South Africa captain, Keshav Maharaj: We did not want to focus too much on the weather, we just wanted to bat first and put good runs on the board. Yes Quinton played really well, but there are lots of matches still to be played on this tour, and he can cash in then again. We just need to be ready to grab more opportunities with both hands as far as getting ready for the World Cup in India, is concerned. Well I am not the T20 captain, hence talking about our T20 team will be slightly difficult for me, but, we have the team to get the job done in the 20-over format as well, and we will look forward to the series for sure.

England captain, Jos Buttler: It was a good wicket and it is a tough ground to defend, the game was evenly poised, but unfortunately, it could not be complete. When you have a genuine all-rounder like Ben missing, it is always a big void to fill, but still, we have to be consistent and persevering, to set ourselves up for the World Cup defence in 2023. We have a lot of experienced people still in the team, so we have to be realistic as a team about the changes and build the team accordingly for the World Cup in India. Hopefully, there will be some great matches lined up in the T20-leg of the series, some high-scoring matches expected, so yes, we will be up for them for sure.

This match, the third and final ODI at Headingley, was set up to be a fascinating finale to the series, with both teams having won one game apiece, and the start was pretty good too, living up to the expectations!

But unfortunately, came the first spell of showers and curtailed the game to 45 overs a side. We began again after the delay and got close to six overs in, but then came the second, and eventually, the final spell of showers, to bring the match to an abrupt and permanent halt. The 3-match ODI series ends, 1-1.

Qunton de Kock was batting beautifully, set to get to his eighteenth hundred. His front foot drives were magnificent and the way he found the gaps right through his innings, was exemplary. But England had the match in their grasp as well, with the rain break coming in and reducing the match duration. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid were running through their overs and something had to give, just when it started raining again and washed the match out. A sad end to what was building up to be a really interesting one!

Anyway, we thank you so much for staying with us patiently right through. It is sad to end it this way, but it was really unfortunate that the rain gods intervened.

JUST IN! The match has officially been called off! England and South Africa share the series, after rain emerges victorious in the decider!

The ground-staff will need quite a bit of time to dry the ground for play, once they get the chance, so if the rain does stop, it does not mean that we are guaranteed play, as with every passing minute, we are approaching the cut-off time. But, for anything new to happen, the rain has to stop first!

Sadly, no positive news to report from Headingley, as of 15:40 (local time), which is 20:10 IST! It seems the rain is still falling and things aren't looking very bright. Watch this space for further updates!

As per reports, the cut-off time, for a 20-over match to take place, is 10:34 PM IST (6:04 PM local time). And, for those wondering, it is still raining!

7:05 PM IST: And here we go again! Rain comes back to stop play! It does not look good now. The forecast was for more rain, but it hasn't taken much time for it to arrive again. The covers are coming on again and the umpires have their umbrellas out. Further over reduction well and truly expected now.

So England have decided that spin is the way to go now no matter what, with the intent of getting as many overs in as possible. Mind you, Livingstone is a handy spinner, but with de Kock in the form that he is in, runs are coming pretty nicely here.
