That victory takes Pakistan Champions to the top of the points table. They are now the only undefeated team in the tournament. India Champions have won two from three games and are currently at level with Australia Champions as far as the number of points are concerned. Though Australia Champions acquire the second spot due to their better run rate. Two more games are lined up for tomorrow and we would be set to bring you the action as it unfolds. For now, it is time for the pair of Darpan Tikiya and Rajarshi Das to sign off.
Younis Khan (Pakistan Champion Captain): I have grown in stature by performing in India-Pakistan games. What happened with the national team in the T20 World Cup motivated us to perform this way. We wanted to give some happiness to the people back home. Kamran and Sharjeel batted really well. Sohaib Maqsood also delivered the goods. Even, Shoaib Malik played a good innings. Shahid Afridi is injured but he is still bowling for the team. Sohail Tanvir and Wahab Riaz also did well.
Yuvraj Singh (India Champions Captain): My back is not bad. I like the Impact Player rule. So, I can go out and just bat. I don't think that choosing to bowl first was a bad decision. I think the wicket stayed the same. Credit to Pakistan Champions for the way they played. They bowled better than us. After Raina and Rayudu we could not get a partnership going. No excuses, Pakistan Champions played better cricket and they deserved to win.
Sharjeel Khan is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: I was trying to play a long innings the last two games, got set today and had that. Felt good. Got to keep a positive intent on this wicket, the format is short, lesser time for batters and bowlers. Tried to play the ball as per its merit, had Shahid bhaai's support, the environment is good within the team, the seniors are really supportive. You gather momentum as you play games, hopefully, we'll get to see better stuff going forward.
Sharjeel Khan is the "Player of the Match".
Wahab Riaz gets the "Moment of the Match" award for his bowling.
Kamran Akmal gets the "Batter of the Match" award.
The post-match presentation is coming up. Stay tuned.
Pakistan Champions celebrate with high fives and wide grins on their faces. It is a victory that was set up by their opening batters. India Champions' bowling line up had some illustrious names but they all looked like a shadow of themselves. Too many loose deliveries were dished out by them and Kamran Akmal and Sharjeel Khan had a feast. They showed no mercy while smacking the ball around and helped their team put on a massive total on the board.
Once the target of 244 was set, the writing was pretty much on the wall. However, India Champions gave it a fight. Their openers delineated intent and seemed on course until spin was introduced. Rayudu attempted a slog sweep off the bowling of Shoaib Malik after having hit him for 10 runs off the previous two balls. He missed and lost his stumps. That proved to be the turning point of the innings as it was soon followed by the runout of Yusuf Pathan and the wicket of Gurkeerat Singh Mann. While Raina provided a semblance of stability from one end, the other saw batters come, hit a few blows and get out. After all, the required rate was a daunting one and kept on rising with every boundary less ball.
In the end, it is a comfortable victory for the Pakistan Champions and it is bound to make their fans -who gathered in good numbers at the Edgbaston today - feel over the moon. India Champions, on the other hand, have some soul searching to do after this game.
