That also brings us to the end of our coverage for the opening ODI between India Women and West Indies Women. India have registered their biggest victory by runs against West Indies in ODIs and they will look to continue their great work in the next ODI which will be played on 24th December. Renuka Singh Thakur is tus Player of the Match, here is what she had to say: The crowd keep me motivated along with my teammates. Harman asked me whether I should keep bowling and the confidence level kept increasing after getting more wickets. Yesterday we bowled spot bowling. I have played a lot of T20 cricket. Jhulan Goswami adviced me to bowl single wicket. She gave me tips and it worked perfectly. It's a difficult switch. Line and lengths are pretty important. If we work in the practice, it tends to come out well.

Harmanpreet Kaur (Indian captain): I should give credit to the physio team as I have been struggling with my knee for the last three four months. Credit goes to our fielding coach as well. Really happy with how things are going around. Yeah definitely, the way Smriti is batting that is something outsnaidng to watch. She is making it look easy. We are really very happy for Renuka Singh Thakur. Really happy with the fielding approach. We all enjoy playing in home conditions. It's a beautiful ground. Really happy the way BCCI is supporting us.

Hayley Matthews (West Indies captain): Yeah we probably weren't quite on the mark. Not the style of cricket we like playing. We have to come back stronger. I think going to the training park and being hungry. We gonna have bad days as cricketers but make sure it doesn't become a habit. I felt we could have restricted them to 270-280. Bit more consistency with the ball and helping in the field will help us.

Renuka Singh: Feeling good after my first five wicket haul. Really happy, everyone was backing me, they were pushing me to get my fiver-fer. Put a lot of work in my fitness. Feeling good that I bowled 8 overs on the trot. Dottin's wicket felt the best. It came out well, and to dismiss a batter like Dottin was special. We practised yesterday, the condition helped us with the temperature cooling down. That helps the fast bowlers.

It turned out to be an utterly dominating performance from India Women as they went on to register a comprehensive 211-run win against West Indies in the opening ODI to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. It was always going to be a monumental task for West Indies to get anywhere close to the 315-run target but they collapsed like a pack of cards and was never really in the game to be honest.

Qiana Joseph was run out off the first delivery of the run chase and there was no way back for them. The dangerous Hayley Matthews was dismissed in the third over as she slashed at a good length delivery outside off and ended up nicking one straight to Richa Ghosh. Out came Deandra Dottin with a positive frame of mind but couldn't quite make an impact.

She went slogging at a good-length delivery from Renuka Thakur and ended up losing her stumps. Titas Sadhu then joined in the fun as she brought one back in sharply to dislodge the stumps of Rashada Williams. Shemaine Campbelle and Aaliyah Alleyne tried to build a partnership and took their time at the start. However, Alleyne was dismissed courtesy of a stunning catch by Harmanpreet Kaur and that was the final nail in the coffin.

Renuka Singh Thakur then went onto bag her maiden five-wicket haul. Afy Fletcher struck some good shots towards the end but the target was just a bit too much in the end. The pressure kept mounting and eventually, they were bowled out for 103 runs, handing India their biggest victory by runs in an ODI against West Indies. Renuka Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with figures of 5/29 while Priya Mishra also chipped in with a couple of wickets.
