At the halfway mark, we mentioned about that 30-run over and if that would go on to prove decisive should this game go down to the wire. Given that Ireland XI have failed to come out on the right side of the result, they must be ruing that particular passage of the first innings that went a long way in Spain posting a total in excess of 100.

Having said that, the fiery start provided by Seamus Lynch put the Irish in front and even his dismissal shouldn't have dented their progress. Alas, it was the exact opposite that transpired with Ireland's batters failing to stitch substantial partnerships of note in the overs to come.

Regular wickets saw the runs dry up with the Spanish bowlers landing it in the right areas and showing a marked improvement over their performance on Monday. Cameron Melly and Scott Macbeth then came together to put on a 39-run stand and restore the game back in the balance.

That said, they were left with simply far too much to do with the asking rate continuing to mount higher. A stupendous penultimate over from Atif Mohammad all but sealed the deal for the Spaniards, whose skipper Muhammad Babar then wrapped up formalities in the final over. This is the sort of victory that ought to add a spring to their step and they sure have made a statement with their performance alright!

A clinical defense against a top outfit and the Spaniards can be mighty pleased with how they've gone about their work. More so, having taken a beating at the hands of Portugal last evening. Spain win by 13 runs!
