A run-chase which one wouldn't have envisioned getting this close. Fair play to Jinnah Brescia's bowlers for making a fist of things and taking it until the last delivery, even as they had a modest total to play with as a result of an insipid batting performance. Mind you, Kuljinder Singh and Zain Ali sent down outstanding spells for Cividate to set it up for their side, although their batters certainly weren't at their most comfortable out there.

The very same duo came out to open the innings and while Kuljinder couldn't leave an impact, Zain departed after a quickfire start to set his team on their way. Jinnah Brescia's bowlers were in for the fight though as they bowled tight lines to keep the batters on their toes, also chipping away at the wickets on a regular basis.

It wasn't going to be a stroll in the park for Cividate as a number of tight overs saw the asking rate shoot up slowly but surely. It never reached gargantuan proportions owing to the fact that they didn't have much to chase but they certainly made heavy work of a target that is, on most days, chaseable without much difficulty in this format. Muhammad Arslan took his time in the middle but couldn't convert his start into a substantial score and while Musharraf Muzaffar was kept quiet for large swathes of his innings, he managed to bat through until the final over.

It was Isra Munshi's consecutive hits over the fence though that eased the nerves as well as the asking rate for Cividate. Thereafter, a string of singles and wides ensured that the job got easy for them and while it went down to the last ball, it was a rather poetic end with another wide ensuring that they got home. Cividate open their ECS Milan 2023 campaign with a win and will look to go back-to-back later in the day. As for Jinnah Brescia, they haven't been able to back their first win up with another but it's still early days in the tournament. They have a lot to reflect on though as far as their batting is concerned.

OH WHAT AN ANTICLIMAX! Who would have thought that it would end in this manner and as we mentioned before, wides prove costly for a bowling side. That's exactly what has transpired in a bizarre end to a thriller!
