That's all from the first match of the evening. The second match will commence in just about half an hour. Do stay with Sportskeeda to get all the updates. Until then, this is Bala and Shashwat signing off. Stay home, stay safe!
It will be a tough pill to swallow for the Strikers. It will be difficult to come back from such a loss. But on the brighter side, they might feel relieved that such a game happened right at the start of the tournament and not towards the business end.
That's a clinical performance by the Hikers. After restricting the Strikers to just 43 runs, they hardly broke a sweat in chasing it down. It did not even take them half the overs to overhaul the target.

Skipper Desron Maloney was the sole casualty in that run-chase. But he wasn't dismissed before scoring a 15-ball 19. His opening partner Salvan Browne remained not out on 13 and Dillon Douglas hit a lusty blow to finish off the proceedings.

There is nothing much to talk about when it comes to the Strikers' bowling. Ray Jordan claimed the only wicket to fall in the innings.
La Soufriere Hikers win by 9 wickets with 31 balls to spare!
4.5 Geron Whyllie to Dillon Douglas, SIX! THAT WILL BE THAT! In the slot outside off stump. Douglas clears his front leg and swats that one over the sweeper at long on to seal a convincing victory for the Hikers!
4.4 Geron Whyllie to Salvan Browne, back of a length delivery outside off stump. Browne gets onto the back foot and cuts that one towards the sweeper at deep point for a single
4.3 Geron Whyllie to Salvan Browne, length delivery on middle and leg stump. Browne gets into position and flicks that one towards deep mid wicket for a couple of runs
4.2 Geron Whyllie to Salvan Browne, SIX! MASSIVE! Right in the slot on middle and off stump. Browne gets down on one knee and absolutely bludgeons that one over deep mid wicket for a maximum! That shot had a stamp of authority on it
4.1 Geron Whyllie to Salvan Browne, back of a length delivery just outside off stump. Browne goes back and defends
The Hikers are playing sensibly here, not taking a lot of chances. The batsmen are ticking the score over in the process as well, which means that there is no pressure on them at the moment.

Geron Whyllie into the attack now.

3.5 Rasheed Fredericks to Salvan Browne, back of a length delivery on leg stump. Browne gets onto the back foot and pushes the ball towards short fine leg for another single
3.4 Rasheed Fredericks to Dillon Douglas, back of a length delivery outside off stump. Douglas gets onto the back foot and pats the ball down the ground towards mid off for a single
3.3 Rasheed Fredericks to Dillon Douglas, back of a length delivery on leg stump, Douglas gets onto the back foot and drops the ball into the on side towards mid wicket
3.2 Rasheed Fredericks to Dillon Douglas, FOUR! Back of a length delivery outside off stump. Douglas rocks onto the back foot and scythes that one past short third man for a boundary!
3.1 Rasheed Fredericks to Salvan Browne, back of a length delivery on leg stump. Browne gets onto the back foot and turns the ball into the on side towards square leg for a single
The Strikers have managed to get a breakthrough in, but Maloney has done some damage before walking back to the pavilion. He scored 12 runs in that over before getting dismissed. In a chase of 4 runs an over, that sort of an over decides the outcome more or less.

Dillon Douglas has replaced Maloney in the middle. Rasheed Fredericks will bowl out for the Strikers.

2.6 Ray Jordan to Desron Maloney, OUT! GONE THIS TIME! Full delivery angled into the batsman on middle and leg stump. Maloney gets onto the front foot and for some reason, chips that one straight to the fielder at short mid wicket. Soft dismissal!
