Kieron Pollard, MI New York Captain : Very relieved. Qualifying for the playoffs is a big goal achieved. We are the 4th team to do so but the team did well. Obviously we haven't batted well as a group and that is something that we have spoken from time to time. For me, it was a bit of experience and one of the guys in the locker room told me that don't worry, it is only one or two knocks away and I will be back to my best. For that to come from a young player was very special to me and to have my family around, it went in the right direction. No matter what you achieve in life, there is always a bit of confidence needed and in the end, everything that is being done is for the best interests for the team. I want to add that one of the fans got hit and I hope to help them and please let us know if we can facilitate anything from our end.

Sunil Narine, Los Angeles Knight Riders Captain : The score was tough to defend, 130 was definitely very below par. We needed early wickets but it was difficult to contain this batting line up. Pooran played very well but cannot fault the players of my team, they did very well, fought till the end and the general vibe of the game was very good. In this format, batting first becomes a challenge more often than not, we were very close to qualify but not to be. We did try everything that we had today against them but it did not work out for us and that is how cricket goes sometimes. Message to fans is to keep supporting us, we will continue to fight and the team was brilliant, it just did not happen this year but want to give credit to all the players who did their best in putting us ini good situations.

Rashid Khan (Most Valuable Player of the Match): It was much-needed for us. We needed the win. When I am bowling during the middle-overs, it is important for me to take wickets. Always pleasing when you do well in such an important game. You have to be wary about the short boundary. Just tried to bowl the right lengths here. I had that in mind. (Regarding his ball to dismiss Nitish Kumar) I bowled some quicker balls and he was playing well. That is why I bowled it from behind the umpire to get some flight and extra run. I had visualized the dismissal and executed it.

Nicholas Pooran: What was different tonight is that we have been in this situation before. Winning the toss today was very crucial. The bowlers came out and did the job. (About the chase) There is no secret to it, just had to take responsibility. LAKR bowled very well but we stuck it out there. Unfortunately, couldn't finish the game which is disappointing but Polly did the job. (Regarding Pollard's knock) He is probably better than anyone at that finishing role. In games like these, he knows how to step up. Big game and big players come to the party.

This was always going to be a genuine challenge for MI New York with a deteriorating wicket and an opening pair which was new and relatively inexperienced. The average opening runs for MI New York has been in single digits and Brevis survived the Spencer Johnson test in the first over of the chase. There was frantic running between the wickets at the start which would not have added to the confidence of Pollard and Co.

It was the highest opening partnership all season for MI New York, which was a watchful start by them - exactly what they needed after not having the best of records while chasing in this season. But it was Johnson, in his 3rd straight over and the 5th of the innings, who trapped Clinton for the first wicket of the innings. Corne Dry removed Brevis in the next over just when he was starting to look dangerous and started to make things a bit tough for the defending champions.

Narine came and struck in his first over as MI New York's progress was dented through the middle overs. The asking rate kept increasing. Heath Richards hit some really big sixes in Match 16 against the Unicorns, where he faced the likes of Haris Rauf. He received a promotion in the batting order today owing to that knock of 24 from only 13 balls. But he could not replicate his heroics from the past.

Halfway through the innings and LAKR really switched on themselves on the field with plenty of fielders diving across the turf, putting their bodies on the line and not giving an inch to the batters. It was an enticing contest between Pooran and Narine who have had countless battles in the past with success in equal measure for both players. Pooran played it smartly, striking him for a six but also not going overboard with his attacking approach.

Kieron Pollard, who only had 24 runs to his name before today in this competition, came out and struck 3 consecutive sixes against the best fast bowler of the opposition, Spencer Johnson, to virtually seal the deal for his side. MI New York were at the brink of elimination last year as well. They just snuck in and won the whole thing. They faced a similar task at the start of today and now they have an opportunity to repeat history.
