Geez! What a thriller that was! An absolute humdinger of a match that could have gone anywhere till the last ball. In the end, Peshawar Zalmi come out on top winning their first game of the season. It's been a pleasure bringing you this match. It's time to bid you goodbye. This is me - Darpan Tikiya - signing of on the behalf of my co-commentator Arya Sekhar Chakraborty. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for more sporting action!
Babar Azam (Peshwar Zalmi captain): After losing first two matches, it was important to win this. And it's an outstanding win. We wanted to get to 180 and we got there. Haseebullah Khan played really well. The bowlers executed their plans really well. If we had held on to the catches we would have won by a bigger margin. We changed the combination and hoped that it suits our team and it worked.
Luke Wood (Player of the Match): I just tried to follow what I follow in every game. Try to bowl at the stumps and being consistent and it paid off. I was expecting there to be more bounce on this surface. But it was different. It was rather a little slow and skiddy.
Umar Gul (Peshawar Zalmi bowling coach): I think it was an important win for us. A great boost up for us and I hope we will continue the momentum. Yeah I think today we gave the plans to the bowlers to use the bigger side. In the end, you can say the game was very close but winning is what matters in the end. To be honest, I was supporting my game. When Abbas is not playing against us I always support him.
Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans captain): See, we always keep learning. The whole of Pakistan have enjoyed this game. I think the death over execution wasn't quite there today. When the score went there we couldn't have done anything about that. We backed ourselves to chase it down. This could be our forward plan as well. We keep our batting order floating depending on the situation of the match.
Peshawar Zalmi win by 5 runs.
Haseebullah Khan 37 (18) | Arif Yaqoob 3/43 Dawid Malan 52 (25) | Mohammad Ali 2/23
What a rollercoaster ride was that! Zalmi started off really well with the ball picking up the priced scalp of Rizwan early. Yasir Khan and Reeza Hendricks both got themselves in but never looked like taking the game away from Peshawar.
It was Dawid Malan who changed the course of the chase with his 25-ball-52. And then came the eventful over no. 17 bowled by Arif Yaqoob. It had 3 wickets, 2 sixes and a controversial catch. That one over had more action than a typical Rohit Shetty movie. In the end, it came down to 16 runs off 4 balls.
Iftikhar Ahmed smashed a six and a four to get the hopes of Multan Sultans up high. But he got out on the penultimate ball and Naveen Ul Haq wrapped it up by shattering Shahnawaz Dahani's stumps off the last ball. With that Peshwar Zalmi pick up their first win of the season.

19.6 Naveen-ul-Haq to Shahnawaz Dahani, WICKET! Dahani has been cleaned up here and the Peshawar Zalmi wins their first game of the competition by 5 runs. On a good-length around the off-stump channel, Dahani clears his front leg and goes for an almighty swing across the line, gets beaten and the ball rattles onto the off-stump.
Shahnawaz Dahani b Naveen-ul-Haq 0 (1b, 0x4, 0x6)
Shahnawaz Dahani, RHB, comes in
19.5 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, WICKET! This could be a wicket here. There was a clear sound when the ball was next to the bat. A pace-off good-length delivery outside off, Iftikhar goes for an almighty swing across the line, the umpire nods his head. The review has been taken and replays clearly show there was a big spike when the ball was next to the bat. Still 6 required and Shahnawaz Dahani needs to hit a six here.
Iftikhar Ahmed c Mohammad Haris b Naveen-ul-Haq 16 (8b, 2x4, 1x6)
IFTIKHAR YOU BEAUTY!!!! STRAIGHT OVER THE TOP OF THE UMPIRE'S HEAD!!! 6 to win off 2 now!
19.4 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, SIX! That has been smoked down the ground for a maximum. That was right in the slot from Naveen, around the middle stump, Iftikhar holds his shape and swings through the line, sends it many a mile over the long-on fence. Just 6 required off the last 2 deliveries now.
THE FIRST TIME HE BOWLED WITHIN THE STUMPS THIS OVER AND IFTIKHAR JUST SWIPES IT AWAY! 12 OFF 3 REQUIRED
19.3 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, FOUR! Iftikhar gets inside the line of that length delivery around the pads and helps it away well over the short fine leg fielder. This is easy pickings for Iftikhar.
DOWN TO 16 OFF 4. STILL ANYONE'S GAME.
19.3 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, pace-on full-length delivery well wide outside off, called a wide.
OH DEAR OH DEAR!! THAT'S A SCHOOLBOY ERROR FROM LUKE WOOD WHO HAS BEEN SO GOOD TONIGHT.
19.2 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, FOUR! Sloppy work in the deep by Luke Wood. Execution of bowling was perfect but no so in the field. Drillss this full one a shade outside off towards the deep extra cover fielder, was struck straiht to the fielder who makes a meal of that.
That was a really close call! Also remember, third man and fine leg are up in the circle. So an edge flies for a boundary.
19.2 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed, that was a pace-on yorker-length delivery well outside off, Iftikhar moved across off a bit, Iftikhar goes flashing at that but doesn't make any contact. Called a wide.
19.1 Naveen-ul-Haq to Iftikhar Ahmed. that was a very slow delivery from Naveen. Short of a length outside off and that took eternity to arrive. He goes flashing at that but doesn't make any contact.
