Thank you for joining us- Mohul Bhowmick and Bidipto Datta- in this low-scoring thriller in the Fairbreak Global Invitational Womens T20 competition. With the win that they garnered today, the Warriors have earned a berth for themselves in the semifinals. Until next time, goodbye!
Sindhu Sriharsha (Warriors Women captain) They pushed us to the brink. We made a few wrong calls when playing the shots. We did not make a lot of good decisions. However, it did not stop us from fighting till the end and taking the game right to the end. We just wanted to bowl to our strengths and take the game as deep as possible.
Nicola Carey (Spirit Women captain): It was a tight game but I thought we put up a good show towards the end, though couldn't quite get over the line, Bismah Maroof was excellent with the bat. She held on to her composure nicely and took the game deep. Warriors have a tremendous bowling attack and we just could not get going well enough at the start of out innings with the bat.
Amanda-Jade Wellington is adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what she has to say.
Amanda-Jade Wellington: This was a really good game, the Spirit have a fine bowling attack and they did a fantastic job to restrict us to such a low score. I changed my pace nicely and that worked well I guess.
The Spirit's innings just did not get going. A lot of their batters got in, got set and then threw their wickets away. Openers Sophia Dunkley and Sarah Bryce were expected to do the business for their side but they flattered to deceive. Nicola Carey too tried her best to push the scoring rate but not a lot went in her favour.
The spinners of the Warriors were on top of their game throughout their innings, with Amanda-Jade Wellington, the magical spinner from Australia, leading the way. Bismah Maroof, however, was the one who made things somewhat easy for the Spirit.
Needing five runs off the last ball, however, she could only stroke it straight to mid off for a single. She will be extremely disappointed with the result, as it was expected for them to chase it down quite comfortably. In the end, they lost by just three runs, but it should not have come down to the final over at all.
Kathryn Bryce will be extremely proud of the way she bowled today, and her skipper Sindhu Sriharsha will be pleased with all the things that went their way. With this win, the Warriors have booked a spot for themselves in the semi-finals.

19.6 Kathryn Bryce to Bismah Maroof, ONLY A SINGLE! WARRIORS WIN THIS NAIL-BITER! Full around off-stump. Maroof goes deep in her crease and drives it down the ground. But her shot is not good enough to get it past the left of mid-off. All she has to settle for is one run! Warriors beat Spirit by 3 runs.
It comes down to striking a boundary off the last ball! Even a tie will allow the Spirit to win this game owing to them having more wickets in hand than their opponents.
19.5 Kathryn Bryce to Ayabonga Khaka, good length ball on off. Swung across to long-on from the back foot for a single. 5 to get off 1 ball now!
19.4 Kathryn Bryce to Ayabonga Khaka, good length ball on off-stump, Khaka steps down the track and knocks it straight back to the bowler! In the end, it is a dot ball after all the helter skelter!
Ayabonga Khaka, RHB, is the new batter.
Oh my! The short boundary came to Boochatham's rescue as she picks up a timely boundary. 6 needed now but she has been run out!
19.3 Kathryn Bryce to Nattaya Boochatham, RUN OUT! NATTAYA GOES! Full on middle-stump. Squeezed out to the left of the bowler but Kathryn picks it up quick and throws at the stumps to the striker's end. The keeper collects and whips the bails off. By then, Nattaya is way short of her crease in trying to get back!
Nattaya Boochatham run out (Sindhu Sriharsha / Kathryn Bryce) 7 (6b 1x4 0x6)
19.2 Kathryn Bryce to Nattaya Boochatham, FOUR RUNS! Good length ball on middle-and-leg. Nattaya manages to slog-sweep it over the in-field and down to deep backward square for a boundary!
Only one! 10 needed now.
19.1 Kathryn Bryce to Bismah Maroof, good length ball on leg-and-middle. Swiped across the line to deep square-leg for a single only.
Maroof stroked her way to 12 runs in this over off Kerr. 11 needed off the final over! Maroof has the strike, so she will back herself to go big right away.
