A low-scoring thriller at the CAA Centre, Brampton and the Surrey Jaguars come out on the top reserving a berth for the main event of the 2023 Global T20 Canada. The Knights will have to thrust back in the second qualifier in order to make it to the finals.

Matt Forde (Player of the Match): What a game, what a game, thats what I can all say. We felt like we were a bit 20 runs short with the bat. I was in distort with the way I got out earlier. And then, I was very keen to do the job with the ball. Vary my lengths, vary my pace, its an up and down wicket and I tried to keep varying things. Thank You.

Iftikhar Ahmed ( Surrey Jaguars Captain): It was a difficult wicket. The way we batted after the fall of wickets, it was great. The way Ayaan made a comeback with the bat it was needed. Yeah, overall, we played some good cricket. We will try to be and play like a champion on Sunday as we are nothing short of that.
Rassie van der Dussen (Vancouver Knights captain): Probably we were a bit off. Not at our best with the ball, on the field. It was three brilliant performances on the trot so not taking too much into this performance. We did okay, 140 I would have taken that with our batting line up but we couldn't execute it today. I think the nature of this wicket, when you are behind the game it feels like its very difficult to catch up. See we were outplayed and have to adjust our tactics a bit. Thats a reward for us for playing some good cricket over the last two weeks. Luckily for us this was a bad match for us and luckily we can come out with better performance tomorrow.
Surrey Jaguars defeat Vancouver Knights by 38 runs.
A stupendous performance from the Jaguars helps them beat the Knights in Qualifier 1 of the third season of the box office tournament in Canada. Iftikhar Ahmed and his boys cement a spot for the final of the Global T20 Canada while the Knights gets another chance to battle out in the second Qualifier and test their chances.
The Vancouver Knights made a mockery of this tricky chase of 140 runs, losing early wickets to the pacers. It was Spencer Johnson and Matt Forde with the new white cherry that extracted the lateral movement and induced the edges into play. Rayyan Pathan and Mohammad Rizwan were no show with the skipper Rassie van der Dussen taking the same route along with Harsh Thaker.
The Knights were trimmed down to 31-4 at the stroke of the powerplay. Just when Corbin Bosch and Najibullah Zadran tried to ease off the pressure, Dillon Heyliger came up with a show. The building partnership was broken the right-arm medium-pacer pegged back with two scalps in an over, dismissing Najibullah Zadran and Corbin Bosch.
The spinners gelled up quite well with the ball in hand during the middle phases. Fabien Allen sounded like the lone warrier who stayed till the end before falling out to Matt Forde in the 17th over.
Forde ended up with a four-for, followed by two wickets from Dillon Heyliger. Johnson, Ammar Khalid, Ayaan Khan and Lamichhane grabbed a piece each.
Opening the innings, Mohammed Haris and Jatinder Singh initiated a brisk start with a few appreciative strokes. It was Junaid Siddique who drew the first blood in the fourth over using a short ball to lure the Pakistani novice.
Iftikhar Ahmed, the skipper, stood at one end while Litton Das played some graceful strokes. The devious wrist spinner, Karthik Meiyappan outwitted the Bangladesh batter in his first over, but Ayaan Khan, who entered at number 6, steadied the ship during the middle stages with some flamboyant strokes.
Ayaan and Iftikhar Ahmed added 43 runs for the fifth wicket before being duped by a Junaid Siddique off-cutter. Iftikhar Ahmed’s 36 (28) and Ayaan Khan’s 29 (20) helped the Jaguars get some meat to defend in the second innings. The tail collapsed during the slog overs, offering a four-for to Junaid Khan and ended at 139-9 at the end of full overs quota.

Was on a fuller-length a shade outside off, Siddiqui tries to smash this down the ground, doesn't get anywhere close to the timing he was after a good tumbling catch by Mohammad Haris at mid-off. Forde gets his 4th and what a commanding performance with the ball from the Jaguars.

16.3 Matthew Forde to Fabian Allen, WICKET! That should be the final nail in the coffin for the Vancouver Knights. Allen goes for precision over power on this occasion. Makes some space and ends up slicing the fuller one around middle straight down the throat of the long-off fielder. Fabian Allen did show some glimpses of his fireworks but it wasn't enough.

However, its not over until its over, and Fabien Allen is the last hope for Vancouver.
