London Spirit etch their name onto the much-coveted Hundred trophy! They finished third in the table behind Welsh Fire and Oval Invincibles, but held their nerve in the crunch matches to lift the trophy for the first time. What a moment for the franchise and skipper Heather Knight. The emotions after Deepti Sharma hit that six just showed how much this means to the players.

Heather Knight (London Spirit Women captain): Deepti Sharma is a class player and an experienced player, she held her composure and did it for us! Our international players were amazing! Georgia Redmayne was great, so was Deepti. Danielle Gibson contributed with both bat and ball and on the whole, a complete team effort. It did get tricky through the middle, it was a scrappy game alright but we got the job done and that's all that matters! Congratulations to Tammy and her team too for putting up such a show.

Georgia Redmayne (Hero of the Match, 34 runs off 32 balls): I'm not sure if there is going to be any better feeling than watching that last ball going for six! I think their bowlers were pretty good, specially Shabnim Ismail, but it was a special victory winning it that way! We wanted to be the first Spirit team to make the final and win, and to do it the way we did with so many contributions, is brilliant! Playing here at Lord's was great too.

Eva Gray: It was like an up-and-down campaign but it felt great to get this win! We had a really good game against the Fire last time but this time, we got it done! I was nervous with the pads on but thankfully, I wasn't needed!

Danielle Gibson: Great that Deepti smashed it in the end! What a feeling! I am glad that I got those boundaries in. I stood still and went with see-ball-hit-ball.

What a fitting end to the tournament! A nail-biter to finish it off. The game swung from one team to another, but it was the homeside who managed to get over the line in the end. There's something poetic about Indians and sixes to finish off the final, isn't there? Deepti Sharma took a chance, heaving one off to long-on and cleared Shabnim Ismail by inches. A meter short, and the game could have gone the other way. It was that tight an encounter.

Welsh Fire had a strong start to the innings, with Ismail getting the crucial wicket of Meg Lanning early. But her partner Georgia Redmayne stayed in the crease for the most part of the innings and supported the batters at the other end. She played an anchor's role, which are crucial in these tough chases which can get tricky. She had ensured that the team is almost at the ridge before falling to Frey Davies.

Skipper Heather Knight played a fantastic knock of 24 from 18 deliveries. The going was a bit slow when she came out to the middle. She gave some much needed impetus to the innings. They were scoring at a run per ball when Knight got out, and then came Danielle Gibson. Her cameo of 22 runs from just 9 deliveries was probably the game-changing performance. That 9-ball innings included five boundaries. Without that knock, the Spirit might have easily fallen short.

Shabnim Ismail stood out on a different zone with the ball. She showed why she is one of the best in the world with the three-fer. If the Meg Lanning wicket was not sufficient, she delivered whenever there was a crunch moment in the game and her captain looked at her for a breakthrough. If one person did not deserve to be on the wrong side of the result, it was probably Ismail. Jonassen and Davies gave her some support, but the score proved to be too short in the end.

London Spirit win the Hundred Women's Competition 2024! The players are running out to the middle and there are emotions all over. Spirit stars are celebrating. Shabnim Ismail is sitting at the boundary where the ball sailed inches above her head. She is in disarray but she can be proud of her effort today.

Deepti steps out a bit and smacks it off the meat of the blade over the in-field. Long-on tries to compose herself and take it but the ball still goes over her and beats her effort!
