That concludes the second T20I, and with it, Bangladesh clinch the series 2-0. A superb all-round performance with the ball, and a clinical effort to defend a modest total. We’ll be back on the 20th for the third and final game of this tour, where the West Indies will look to avoid the whitewash. Litton Das (Bangladesh captain): Very happy. Not just me but all Bangladesh people. Definitely, confident in defending the total. When I played the first ball, I understood it was a difficult wicket to bat on. Credits to Shamim Hossain. When we needed wickets, whoever came to the ball gave us the wicket. It's all about team effort. We are in good flow at the moment. We have to come and play good cricket.

Rovman Powell (West Indies captain): (On bowling first) I think at the start we made a right decision. We felt its a different pitch. We thought the ball would come on better. It's disappointing to be honest. In the last few series, batting has let down to be honest. The bowlers have stood up for us for third series in a row but batting hasn't and we aren't able to have a complete game. We have made some strides but last few series has put us back.

Shamim Hossain Patwari (Player of the Match, 35* off 17 balls): I am really happy! I am back in the national team after some time and this feels great. I have the finisher's role, and so, I think about hitting the ball and keep that simple. My plan is to finish the game, I have worked on that for the last few months and it is coming off.

A MONUMENTAL SERIES WIN FOR BANGLADESH! Their first-ever series victory against the West Indies away from home. What a statement they’ve made after the disappointment of the 3-0 drubbing in the ODI series. A remarkable turn of events, and it’s clear that their bowlers were the real heroes today.

129 was never going to be an intimidating total, but it was a brilliant collective effort from Bangladesh’s pacers and spinners that ensured West Indies were never allowed to get comfortable. Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh’s most seasoned bowler, set the tone with two crucial wickets in his first over, dismissing both King and Fletcher. That was followed by Mahedi Hasan, who continues to show his worth in this format. A four-wicket haul in the previous game, and now two key wickets today, including the dangerous Charles and Pooran, saw West Indies slumped at 32 for 4 inside sixth over.

Once again, the West Indies were left relying on the shoulders of their captain, Rovman Powell. After his heroics in the first match, it seemed like he might repeat the performance when he was handed a lifeline with a dropped catch. But fate wasn’t on his side for long. A brilliant catch from Mehidy Hasan at backward point sent Powell packing. And with Shepherd falling for a duck soon after, the West Indies were well and truly buried at 42 for 6 inside 10 overs.

A late rally from Roston Chase and Akeal Hosein threatened to make things interesting, as they added a stubborn 47-run partnership. But once Rishad took two wickets in quick succession, including that of Chase, the writing was on the wall. The West Indies’ chase, never really on track, was finished.

It’s been a display of poor decision-making and indiscipline from the West Indies. The batting has been inconsistent, the team has failed to build partnerships, and once again, they’ve shown a lack of skill in T20 cricket. Credit to Bangladesh’s bowlers, but make no mistake, the Windies should have been much better than this.

Also, credit where it’s due to Shamim Hossain, who was the only one in the Bangladesh top order who seemed to have any composure while others fell around him. Without his quickfire 30-odd, Bangladesh would have been in even deeper trouble.

For the West Indies, this is their second consecutive T20I series loss after the drubbing from England. They’ve clearly got a lot of work to do. With one more game to go, the Windies will need to regroup, reassess, and avoid the humiliation of a 3-0 whitewash. If they don’t, they may face serious questions on their T20I future.

A well-deserved series win for Bangladesh, but West Indies need to do some serious introspection if they hope to turn this around. Presentations coming up soon...
