Craig Ervine [Zimbabwe captain]: The boys really were well prepped today. We had a good week's preparation getting into today, so everyone was really confident. We probably would also have liked to bowl first but you know, once the toss was done and the anthems were done, the sun actually came out and it was a nice wicket to bat first on. I thought the top order was really good today. I think the middle section, they were quite stuck today, maybe not really from an intent point of view but maybe on the execution error on a few different shots. I am sure we will go and have a debrief tomorrow. I thought the intent guys showed today was really good. We were never down on the run rate. We were always up at 5-5.5. So maybe if we can carry that intensity and intent throughout all three games, we are good. I thought we were a little bit under par. We thought that we can start well, set the tone nice and early and I thought Richie and Blessing did extremely well at the start just to contain; never really gave away easy runs to Pakistan. Will and Raza are our seasoned campaigners. I thought they were excellent through the middle overs and made it very difficult for them to get away.

Sikandar Raza is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: I would like donate the man of the match award to Child Cancer Association. By the time, Regis found the rhythm, we were thinking at 250, would've been a good total had we got there. Somebody had to bat out of their skin, but couldn't do it. In international cricket you learn from it, our guys showed the courage, we got those two partnership when needed, but credit to the bowlers and made life tough for the opposition. It was Ngarava, kept saying, you can trust and got those ones and twos, started to find boundaries as well, that gave me confidence. It's a tough ask you being the all-rounder, but you have to be ready to do that for your country. It is expected of you to win the games for your country, I'll try and do to my best of the ability.

Mohammad Rizwan [Pakistan captain]: It wasn't a great day for us, we let Zimbabwe off the hook when we had them on the mat. We conceded the game right there. We won the toss, we thought we could bowl, but the sun came out and made it easy. We couldn't handle the pressure, they put us under pressure and we couldn't come out of it. We have a good mix of the bowlers, we need to bring the best in the next game. Muzarabani, Ngarava have played a lot of games, they are suited to bowl in these conditions.

Zimbabwe did not let Pakistan breathe easy in the second innings, snatching six wickets--two apiece for Sikandar Raza, Sean Williams and Blessing Muzarabani. Mohammad Rizwan remained not out in the middle, though he could not boost the run rate of the team with wickets falling one after the other, especially after the powerplay.
It was Blessing Muzarabani alongside Richard Ngarava who bowled in the right areas for the large part of the powerplay. However, the first wicket was thrown away on a ball flying away down the leg side from Abdullah Shafique and soon after Saim Ayub departed. Ngarava did not get a wicket but he kept it tight from one end leading to these wickets. After the end of powerplay Pakistan were 27/2. Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams capitalised on this and kept throwing challenges and Rizwan and other batters.
Mohammad Rizwan looked rusty throughout his innings and struggled to middle the ball, scoring just 19 runs off 43 balls. With wickets falling at the other end, all Rizwan did was wait and witness the team collapsing before rain caused the remaining game to be called off.

4:10 PM local (7:40 PM IST): Persistent rain continues to delay play, and with each passing minute, the likelihood of resuming the game diminishes. The umpires are closely monitoring the conditions, and we'll keep you updated on any developments.

3:40 PM local (7:10 PM IST): We're afraid, we still don't have good news. The rain is steady, nothing has improved in Queen's Sports Club and that means, the waiting game continuous!

3:34 PM local time (7:04 PM IST): Next update from the Queen's Sports Club will come at 3:40 PM local time (7:10 PM IST) as it's still pouring.

3:15 PM local time (6:45 PM IST): It's still raining persistently at the Queen's Sports Club. As of now resumption of the game is nowhere near in sight.

3 PM local time (6:30 PM IST): It is still absolutely pelting down at Queen's Sports Club! The entire ground is not covered though, like they do in Sri Lanka or West Indies. So if the rain completely stops, there's going to huge delay in getting the ground ready to play. We're in for a long delay here!

Pakistan 60/6 after 21 overs
Zimbabwe are in a win-win situation with rain causing a delay in the game. Even if the target is readjusted as per the DLS, Zimbabwe are likely to reap benefits of their performance so far in the second half of the game. Even if the game washes out, their shall be a definite result as the 20-mark has been crossed. Blessing Muzarabani, Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza bagged two wickets each to put a mountain of pressure on visiting skipper Mohammad Rizwan, who witnessed the wickets falling on the other end after his arrival at number four position. Rizwan has looked scratchy throughout his innings, edging and missing balls more often than middling it.
To add to the woes of Pakistan, the stadium does not have floodlights for the game to be played under overcast conditions.

And just then the covers have been brought on with heavy rain pelting at the Queen's Sports Club.

Pakistan will hope that even that rain does not wash away the remaining game. Though, they are way behind the DLS par score of 140 runs.
