Argentina scripted history by defending their Copa America title. It is an even more special crown because a legend like Angel Di Maria is bidding farewell to international football. La Albiceleste were the best team in the tournament throughout and even in the final they somehow managed an opening to take the lead through substitute Lautaro Martinez. On the other hand, Colombia also had a sensational campaign but they were slightly behind on the big day.

Lautaro Martinez does it again as he gets a brilliant ball in behind the Colombian backline. The Argentine striker does the rest brilliantly y slotting it past Vargas to send the Argentina fans into raptures. 

109' HUGE BLOCK!! A brilliant buildup from Colombia saw Quintero free up Carrascal in behind the Argentina defence. He was just about to take the shot, when Lisandro retrieved the back with a lunging sliding tackle to keep out the danger. Huge block in the context of the match. 

107' ALMOST!! Argentina almost scored in the second half of extra-time as Di Maria wriggled past a couple of defenders before whipping a ball in. It was intended for Lautaro in the penalty box but he did not fully commit for the ball. 

105' Colombia resumed the second half of the extra-time. 

105' Three substitutes for Colombia as Borja, Uribe and Carrascal replace Jhon Arias, Lerma and Luis Diaz.

A very physical 15 minutes for both teams but Argentina got the better chances to finish off the match. However, Nico Gonzalez couldn't make the most of his chance. Colombia haven't had much going upfront apart from a dribble from Quintero and a solo run from Luis Diaz. A very exciting second half of extra-time remains.

103' It has been a very scrappy extra-time for both teams. Tackles are flying in and players are going down with niggles. 

99' A floating ball from the right finds Tagliafico in the box but his header was easily collected by Vargas.

95' HUGE OPPORTUNITY MISSED!!!

A brilliant buildup from Argentina sees Di Maria play a ball in behind the Colombian defence, finding De Paul's run. He loses his marker and then sends in a low cross towards Nico. But his effort was kept out by Vargas. 

90' Argentina start the extra time proceedings. We will play another 30 minutes to decide a winner. 

90' Huge substitution for Colombia as James Rodriguez is replaced by Juan Quintero.

After ninety minutes, Argentina and Colombia are still deadlocked at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. Both teams have had some golden chances but they haven't been clinical in front of goal. Lionel Scaloni hasn't been proactive in this game. He hasn't yet brought on Lautaro Martinez, who is in fiery goalscoring form. Overall, both sets of players need to pick themselves up and find the back of the net which may win them the trophy. 

Fans must note that there's extra time in the final of the Copa America 2024, unlike the other knockout matches in this tournament till now which had directly rolled over to the penalties. 

90+2' Tensions rise for the Colombian defence as a ball from midfield finds Nico on the left. He heads the ball towards Alvarez but Cuesta was unsure of the striker's position and kicks the ball away for a corner.

89' Double change for Colombia as Rafael Santos Borre and Kevin Castano replace Rios and Cordoba. 

88' HUGE CHANCE FOR ARGENTINA!

A beautiful ball from Montiel finds Nico in the box and he heads it down for Alvarez but the striker couldn't reach the ball in time. 

83' James had a great opportunity to make the most out of a setpiece opportunity but he struck the human wall. It was a freekick in a very dangerous area. 

80' Nico Gonzalez has been a menace on the left flank. This time he cuts in with precision and lost Arias but as he was about to take the shot, he slipped and Sanchez cleared away the ball. 

78' Another good setpiece from James as he finds Cuasta in the penalty box but the defender fails to control his header which goes way over the bar. 

75' GOAL RULED OUT FOR ARGENTINA!!

A brilliant move from Argentina as it falls kindly for Nico in space in the box and he slots it past Vargas. But the linesman pulls up the offside flag. The Argentina fans inside the stadium are shocked. 

70' A good move for Argentina as Montiel breaks forward with purpose. He loses his marker but Jhon Arias retrieves the ball in time with a crunching sliding tackle. 

65' Messi's Copa America 2024 comes to an early end as Nico Gonzalez replaces him. He leaves the pitch in tears. 

64' Messi is again down on the ground with pain. He suffered a lot in the first half and now he tripped while chasing the ball due to poor pitch conditions. This may be the end of the night for Argentina's talisman. 

61' Mac Allister is booked by the referee for an infringement on James Rodriguez. 

59' Lionel Scaloni is very pumped up with some decision of the referee. We haven't seen him this much animated in a long time in this tournament. But the frustration is setting in as his team haven't been able to break down the Colombian backline. 

57' Argentina are throwing bodies forward and Messi almost found Alvarez in space but it was well-defended by Sanchez. The clearance finds Di Maria but the Colombian defence stood tall to thwart away the danger. 

54' HUGE OPPORTUNITY GOES BEGGING FOR COLOMBIA!!!!

An excellent corner from James, who sends it into the far post and finds a Colombia player, who heads it back into the near post. The head drops precisely for Davinson Sanchez but his subsequent effort was way off target. He should have done a lot better in that position. 

49' Argentina immediately retaliates to Colombia's big opportunity as Mac Allister gets the ball in the box. However, he fails to sort out his feet and his eventual shot is saved by Vargas. Rios did well to play the ball out of danger with Di Maria lurking around him. 

48' CLOSE! A good buildup from Colombia as James unleashed a cross for Cordoba but it was overhit and the forward only got a portion on his head to the ball. However, the ball landed kindly for Arias on the right, who hammered his shot wide of target. 

46' Colombia start the proceedings of the second half.

HALF TIME: Argentina 0-0 Colombia

It has been a very cagey game between Argentina and Colombia. Both teams have had their chances but weren't clinical enough to break the deadlock. However, it was Cordoba, who got the biggest chance of the first 45 minutes. He combined with James Rodriguez with ease but the subsequent shot from the big forward was just way off the target. 

43' Rios pulls down Tagliafico in a dangerous area. Messi steps up and finds Tagliafico in space in the penalty area. But the fullback struggles to keep the ball down. 

40' Colombia have held possession with a lot of intent but to no good as both teams fail to find the back of the net. 

36' A good move from Argentina as Messi plays a one-two with Alvarez, who gives the ball back to the talisman. Messi, eventually tries to put in a cross but Arias blocks it and catches Messi's ankle on the follow-through. Messi is down on the ground with a lot of pain as the physios are treating him. 

32' HUGE SAVE!! After a good spell of possession, Lerma finds a pocket of space and takes an ambitious effort from the distance. His effort was almost swirling into the back of the net but Martinez parried it away with precision. 

30' It has been a tough 30 minutes for Di Maria on the right flank. He has been dominated by Mojica, who has more pace than the Argentine and till now he has kept Di Maria kept bay. The veteran winger is now considering to drift wide on the left flank to challenge Arias. 

26' First booking of the night as Cordoba is booked for a horrible challenge from behind against Lisandro Martinez. The referee was near the scene and he immediately brandished a yellow card. 

23' Argentina need to be more compact in midfield. They have also struggled in ball retention with some very poor passing. 

20' CLOSE!! Argentina were close to scoring the opening goal. A good buildup sees Tagliafico get the ball on the left flank. He unleashes a cross and finds Messi in the box. The talisman slammed his shot but it struck Davinson Sanchez's body and was collected by Vargas. The deflection could have gone anywhere, Vargas was just lucky that it came straight to him. 

19' Argentina have smartly slowed down the tempo of the game. They have patiently moved the ball around gaining some ground in this match. 

15' Colombia earn a free kick following a foul. James Rodriguez stands over the setpiece but his effort flies straight into Martinez's gloves. 

13' Colombia are looking like the better team now. They have enjoyed possession with great ease and also created the more threatening chances till now. 

11' After a spell of patient buildup, James Rodriguez picks up the ball in the middle and finds Arias on the right flank. The fullback's cross was dangerous but Lisandro Martinez thumped it away. 

7' ALMOST!! Colombia almost find an opening from nowhere. A good ball from James finds Cordoba in the penalty box. He holds off Lisandro before hammering a shot which is slightly away from the target. It was definitely a great opportunity for Colombia to take the early lead. 

5' Luis Diaz has caused problems from the left flank as he tried his luck from distance but Martinez went down in time to evade the danger. 

4' Argentina have had the upper hand in the opening exchanges. This time Messi leads the break for La Albiceleste. He drives the ball forward with purpose before holding up and then sending Julian Alvarez on the run. But the long ball was slightly overhit. 

2' A very fast start for Argentina as a good ball from midfield was played wide to Tagliafico, who drove inside the box but the danger was thwarted by the Colombian backline. 

1' KICK OFF!! We are underway in Florida as Argentina start the proceedings.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, there's another delay to the kickoff of the Copa America final due to fan chaos at the entrance of the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida. The revised kickoff time has been scheduled for 6:45 AM IST.

The kickoff time for the Copa America 2024 final has been delayed by 30 minutes by the authorities after the fans entered the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida without valid match tickets. 

Angel Di Maria, who has been named in the starting lineup for Argentina, will play his last international game for Argentina. He confirmed the same on media ahead of the Copa America final. The legendary winger made his international debut in 2008 and has featured in 145 (including today's match) matches for La Albiceleste. He will hope to put an end to his international journey with another piece of silverware. 

Colombia's first-choice right-back Daniel Munoz who received a red card in the semifinal against Uruguay has been replaced by Santiago Arias— the experienced fullback plies his trade for Brazilian Serie A club FC Bahia. 

Colombia's semifinal win over Uruguay have extended their unbeaten streak to 28 games, including 22 wins and six draws. They have already surpassed their previous unbeaten streak of 27 games set between 1992 and 1994. 

Surprisingly, the last time Colombia lost a match was against Argentina in 2022.
