Hope you all enjoyed this great game of football! That's it from me for tonight, your host Teja. Thank you all for turning into this live blog, I hope you all have a lovely night (or morning) and stay safe. Cheers!
Pogba was their best player on the night, pulling the strings and helped Les Bleus out at both ends of the pitch.
Hummels recovered excellently after a horror own-goal in the first-half as he put in a brilliant shift in the second 45 minutes.
Kevin Volland comes on for Gosens and Emre Can comes on for Ginter.
France also make a change as Benzema is taken off for Corentin Tolisso.
Will be interesting to see if Werner and Sane can change things up.
Paul Pogba really has been the star of the show so far. Even apart from the glorious ball that created the only goal of the game, he's been an utter nuisance for the German backline to deal with. Superb display from the Manchester United midfielder in the first half, who has arguably been the best player on the pitch.
The lightning-quick wing duo Kingsley Coman and Ousmane Dembele are available to Deschamps, as well as different profiles of strikers such as Wissam Ben Yedder and veteran star Olivier Giroud.
Germany have some superb options of their own including Champions League winner Timo Werner and Leroy Sane, who can trouble any defence in the world on their day with their searing pace. Just imagine Werner and Sane running at some tired legs late into the game!
Paul Pogba spoke ahead of the game about how he enjoys playing with more freedom in the diamond and that's exactly where he will be stationed against Germany, with Kante and Rabiot next to him.
The defensive unit including Hugo Lloris is almost identical to their World Cup-winning side, with Presnel Kimpembe coming in for Samuel Umtiti. Kimpembe and Varane have put up some superb displays together for France over the last year or so and they could be hard to breach, particularly with Kante protecting them. Bayern Munich pair Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard slot in at full-back.
He is partnered by Diogo Jota and Bernardo Silva in attack, with Manchester United superstar Bruno Fernandes set to pull the strings from midfield. Veteran stars Pepe and Rui Patricio feature in the side as well, with Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix on the bench at the Puskas Arena.
Benzema could possibly be playing alongside a potential future teammate, Kylian Mbappe. The PSG man is set to make his Euros debut against Germany. Perhaps this is a precursor of what is to come at the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future? 👀
In fact, they've only lost one game in their last 20 since a 2-0 loss to Turkey back in June 2019, which was a shock 2-0 loss to Finland in a friendly. It isn't really hard to see why they're favourites now, is it? Not to mention, they have two superstar players this time around that weren't there during Euro 2016 — Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.
This is another major plotline to keep an eye out on as France will look to make amends for their loss in 2016. Deschamps could possibly become only the second man in history to win the Euros as a player and manager after German legend Berti Vogts.
For starters, this is Joachim Low’s final international tournament with Germany as he’s set to step down this summer, paving the way for Hans-Dieter Flick to take over. Low has been one of the most consistent coaches on the international stage, but the European Championship is the one title that has eluded him so far. Today, he will go up against the side that ended Die Mannschaft’s hopes of winning it in 2016, France.
His Germany came up against Didier Deschamps’ France back in the semi-final of Euro 2016. A brace from Antoine Griezmann saw off the Germans at Stade Velodrome as France stormed into the final.
For this reason, in particular, there’s a lot riding on this game and the two sides could understandably adopt a cautious approach.
The Allianz Arena is set to witness one of the most highly-anticipated games of the UEFA Euro 2020 so far. The two footballing heavyweights are set to kick off their Euro 2020 campaigns as they look to dethrone fellow Group F side Portugal as the champions of Europe.
I am Sai Teja, and I will be talking you through this phenomenal game at the Allianz Arena between the current and former world champions.
