Italy become the first team to advance to the Round of 16 as they clinch 6 points out of 6 with wins over Turkey and now, Switzerland. Mancini's side were dominant throughout the game and Switzerland never looked like coming back into the game and did not have any useful possession of the ball. 

Locatelli was in amazing form and the Italian defence was impenetrable. The Azzurri have fantastic balance in the midfield and they are pitted to go a long way in Euro 2020.

Immobile goes for a speculative strike from distance and finds the back of the net as Yan Sommer delays his dive to the right and is effectively punished as Immobile finally manages to score after squandering the previous two good opportunities. Italy going away with this game. 3-0 already.

64' CLOSE! Switzerland with a great passage of play to split open the Italy defence. Freuler finds Embolo with a through ball who plays it out to Zuber. Zuber's initial shot from the narrow-angle is saved by Donnarumma, the rebound falls to Zuber himself who goes for the goal only to have his shot blocked by a flying Bonucci as Italy survive a scare after dropping their guard for a little bit.

Italy have had more of the ball and created more scoring chances in the Swiss box and are deservingly leading. Switzerland had few positive moments in the last few minutes of the first half but are miles away from the required penetration inside the Italian half. Lots to play for in the second half. 45+2' Mbabu makes a darting run with Embolo for company but Mbabu's pass towards Seferovic is not read properly by the striker and the ball runs out fo a Italy goal-kick.

43' Insigne and Immobile are finding each other so well. They always seem to understand what the other will do before all the others.

40' Locatelli finds Insigne through on goal with a pass in between the lines. Insigne has no support in the middle and hence is forced to go for goal from a narrow-angle and Sommer parries it away, which is eventually cleared away by Alkanji.

38' Spinazzola goes solo on the left side on the counter move but he fails to keep his final shot on target after Alkanji and Schar mounted immense pressure on the left-back.

37' The corner is taken deep and away from the goal and Jorginho is on the end of it and breaks into an Italian counter-attacking move.

36' Brilliant passage of play from Switzerland. Mbabu finds Shaqiri with acres of space in the Italian half. Shaqiri plays it out wide to Rodriguez whose low cross earns the Swiss, a corner.

33' Immobile goes past his marker with a quick left-sided touch inside the box but he is dispossessed by Sommer in a 1v1 situation. The clearance gets to Insigne who tries to evade the out of position Swiss goalkeeper with a curled attempt from distance but Schar heads it away from the goal-line.

32' Seferovic is penalised for a push on Jorginho inside the Italy box as Swiss keep the pressure on the Italian midfielders. 

29' Switzerland try to get more of the ball and try to make something happen on their own but the Italian defence is very tight.

26' GOAL! Locatelli. Italy.

Berardi makes a terrific solo run down the right-wing and brings out all of the attention of the Swiss defence on to him which made Locatelli stranded inside the box with no markers from the Swiss side and all he had to do was tap it home from point-blank range pas a hapless Sommer as Italy go 1-0 up. The Swiss had it coming for a while for being defensive and passive in approach. Locatelli covered a massive distance in that move to get to the Berardi cross.

26' Substitution for Italy: Acerbi replaces Chiellini, Suspected injury.

24' Shaqiri has a cross in from the left side after Switzerland break into the attack. The intended target Embolo is miles away from the cross and Italy get back on the ball after the Swiss midfielders fail to make the most of that opportunity.

22' Italy easily getting into offensive positions in and around the Swiss box and the Swiss defence are living dangerously. Petkovic has to go for a different game plan to play more of the game in Italy's half than their own.

19' Chiellini did find the back of the net but he seemed to have hit his own hand while going for a header from the corner which caused the ball. to go into the net and the goal is disallowed after the Italians celebrated in unison.

16' Insigne with a beautiful flick off the ball to create space for himself shoot but his shot is hurried and well wide of the target off the outside of his boot.

15' Shaqiri is penalised for a challenge from the behind on Jorginho.

14' Italy do have a lot of possession but Switzerland are not having any defensive issues as of now, most of the possession is meters away from the 18-yard box and horizontal.

12' Insigne shows some tricks and skills to go past Alkanji and Schar in the Swiss defensive box but he is dispossessed with ease.

11' MISS! Locatelli goes past Alkanji to find Immobile inside the box with a perfectly placed cross but Immobile heads over the target.

10' Emobolo tries to take on Chiellini with his pace and agility but he takes one touch too many and Italy get the back in a crucial area.

9' Italy press hard with quick passes in front of the Swiss defence but they do not manage to find any scoring openings and are forced to pass all the way back to the central defence and return with a new plan.

6' Italy get in the groove with some swift passing. Insigne gives a perfectly weighted ball over the top to find Locatelli but Sommer goes out his position to get the ball into his safe hands.

5' Xherdan Shaqiri tries to find Rodriguez with a through ball, Bonucci intercepts and clears.

4' Seferovic tries to wriggle past the Italian defence but Chilleni makes a long clearance.

3' Barellla tries to go for goal from outside the box but he cannot get clean strike.

The National Anthems are sung loud and proud, followed by the customary pre-match photographs. 

The teams are walking out to the middle in Rome amidst the ever-familiar Euro 2020 anthem.

The Stadio Olimpico are filling up quick and fast as Italy aim for their second consecutive win in Euro 2020. The teams are done warming up and have returned to the dressing rooms to get on their matchday kits.

Vladimir Petkovic has a tricky formation. It looks like a three-man defence comprising of Elvedi, Schar and Alkanji. Freuler and Xhaka are the two midfield pivots with Shaqiri playing the no.10 role.

Roberto Mancini seems to have gone for a 4-3-3 formation with Insigne and Berardi on the wings and Jorginho as the central midfielder. Bonucci and Chiellini will marshall the central defence.

The opening draw against Wales ended Switzerland’s five-match winning run, which had been extended by victories in UEFA EURO 2020 warm-up games in St Gallen against the United States (2-1) and Liechtenstein (7-0). 

Italy made it nine successive wins – all with clean sheets – with their opening victory against Turkey, having defeated San Marino 7-0 in Cagliari and the Czech Republic 4-0 in Bologna in their two pre-tournament friendlies. Roberto Mancini's side are now unbeaten in 28 internationals (W23 D5) since going down 1-0 to Portugal in Lisbon in the UEFA Nations League on 10 September 2018.

The sides' last competitive matches came in qualifying for UEFA EURO 2000, Italy winning the first game 2-0 in Udine – Alessandro Del Piero scoring in each half – before a goalless draw in Lausanne. Italy went on to win the group with 15 points to reach the final tournament, finishing one point and two places above the eliminated Swiss.

That stretched Italy's unbeaten run against Switzerland to eight matches (W4 D4), since a 1-0 loss in Berne in 1994 FIFA World Cup qualifying in May 1993. The Azzurri's last win against the Swiss came in a Geneva friendly in April 2003, Nicola Legrottaglie and Cristiano Zanetti scoring in either half to secure a 2-1 success.

The Azzurri have dominated fixtures against their neighbours, winning 28 of their 58 matches and losing only eight – although the last three matches between the teams, all in Switzerland, have been drawn. Their most recent meeting was a 1-1 friendly draw in Geneva on 5 June 2010, Gökhan Inler's tenth-minute opener for the home side cancelled out four minutes later by Fabio Quagliarella. Meanwhile, Switzerland manager Vladimir Petkovic has a strong squad to work with as well. The Borussia Monchengladbach quartet of Yann Sommer, Nico Elvedi, Denis Zakaria and Breel Embolo will be crucial, while Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka and Liverpool forward Xherdan Shaqiri continue to be important players in the first XI.

Despite missing Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti against Turkey, Italy produced a strong performance. Verratti remains a doubt for this game. There have been some change in personnel in the squad, with both Inter Milan's Stefano Sensi and Roma's Lorenzo Pellegrini withdrawing due to injury issues and being replaced by Atalanta's Matteo Pessina and Fiorentina's Gaetano Castrovilli.

In 57 head-to-head encounters between the two sides, Italy hold the clear advantage. They have won 28 games, lost seven and drawn 22.

Italy come into this game on the back of a 3-0 win over Senol Gunes' Turkey on Friday in their opening game of UEFA Euro 2020. An own goal from Juventus centre-back Merih Demiral and goals from Lazio striker Ciro Immobile and Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne sealed the deal for Roberto Mancini's Italy.

Switzerland, on the other hand, drew 1-1 against Rob Page's Wales on Saturday in their first game of UEFA Euro 2020. A goal from Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Breel Embolo for Switzerland was cancelled out by a goal from Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore for Wales.
