That brings us to the end of another exciting game of Premier League football. Until next time, this is your commentator Aditya Hosangadibidding you adieu! Cheers!
Massive credit to Ten Hag for that result. An obvious call to leave Ronaldo out but not an easy call. That he had the strength to make it is one of the most positive things to come out of Old Trafford for a while
Remarkable to see Liverpool so comprehensively outfought and out-thought tonight by a team they were so far ahead of last season. Klopp can keep saying there's no issue with his midfield, but that was so clearly where the game was lost, for me.
For Liverpool, it's back to the drawing board. Barring brief ten-minute spells in either half, they've been thoroughly outplayed by Ten Hag's men. The midfield remains a massive concern, but they will take heart from Carvalho's performance tonight.
The Merseysiders drop to 16th place - they have only two points from three, five points behind Man City and seven behind league-leaders Arsenal.
Happy for Jadon Sancho. Oozes class on the pitch. Football’s more fun if he’s a superstar
Thoughts on Lisandro Martínez, @GNev2@Carra23? You know, the defender that is "too short" to play in the Premier League and probably only in a back three or in midfield.
This may well be the biggest win in Manchester United's recent history. Erik ten Hag copped plenty of criticism before kick-off (looking at you, Piers Morgan) - you need some steel to keep Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire on the bench. It all paid off, and then some. Man United tormented Liverpool when they needed to, and both Martinez and Varane showed the maturity that the Red Devils desperately needed in this game.
FULL TIME: Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool
90+5' One final push from Liverpool, but Diaz concedes a foul. That should be that.
90+3' A big cheer at Old Trafford as Van Dijk cuts out the counter with a foul. United will take their time with this free-kick.
Five minutes of stoppage-time..
90' Ronaldo! Attempts a volley with his first touch, but it's nowhere near the target.
90' Brilliant work again from Malacia, gets his body in the way of Firmino's run. Martinez shepherds the ball out of play and is given a shove by Carvalho.
88' Raphael Varane's down with a cramp, and we have a brief stoppage. United's two defenders have put in an absolute shift tonight.
85' Substitutions galore! Andrew Robertson off for Kostas Tsimikas. Triple change for Man United, Cristiano Ronaldo, Donny van de Beek, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on for Rashford, Eriksen, and Dalot.
85' Alexander-Arnold with an ambitious shot, but well wide!
84' Lovely turn by Salah, and an equally admirable recovery from Malacia. Corner for Liverpool.
83' Eriksen at the other end! A quick turn from the Dane, but he was off-balance when he took his shot. Comfortably over the bar.
Fabio Carvalho has turned this game on its head. An excellent showing so far from the youngster.
Trent with the corner, and De Gea parries Carvalho's shot. Salah takes advantage of the confusion in the box to get his goal. Liverpool back in it!
81' SALAH PULLS ONE BACK!! GAME ON, IT'S 2-1!
79' Carvalho with some impressive footwork to create a chance for Liverpool, Robertson fires the cross in but it gets past everybody. United attempt a counter but Joe Gomez cuts it short.
76' RASHFORD! Gets past TAA far too easily, skips past Gomez as well, but puts his foot through the shot and it rockets over the bar.
74' Ah, that's poor from Bruno Fernandes. A blatant dive from the Portuguese international, and he gets a yellow card.
73' Liverpool make another substitution with Fabio Carvalho on for James Milner.
71' A change for United, Fred comes on for the goalscorer Jadon Sancho, who gets a big round of applause.
70' TAA whips a cross in from the right, and Varane clears with yet another header. The Frenchman has been a rock at the back.
67' Fabinho! Gets his header on target and it's an awkward one for De Gea, but the Spaniard gets down to make the save.
66' Salah with another dribble on the right and nearly gets pasts Malacia, but the youngster gets a tackle in just in time to concede a corner.
63' Malacia stuck to Salah like glue tonight and makes another important block after the Egyptian attempts a snap shot from the edge of the area.
59' Liverpool make their first change, with Fabinho coming on for Jordan Henderson.
57' Elliott! Attempts an ambitious shot, but it's wide of the post and into the side netting.
56' An excellent save from Alisson to deny Rashford!! The United winger with another effort towards the far post, and Alisson reacting just in time to push it wide. Liverpool clear the corner.
55' A brilliant save from De Gea!! Diaz was barely a yard away from goal, and De Gea makes a brilliant reflex save! United can do no wrong at the moment.
Put into context, this is a huge goal for Rashford and Man United. Liverpool have their work cut out for them now.
THE GOAL STANDS! MARCUS RASHFORD MAKES IT 2-0!!
Rashford's found the back of the net!! But wait.. this might be offside, VAR having a look.
52' A good set-piece by Man United! Alisson was forced to punch the ball out there, but Liverpool win possession again with the offside flag.
49' Salah goes for the spectacular. A first-time attempt on the volley, but doesn't get it under control.
49' United clear their lines again, but Liverpool have the ball back. Trent pushes up the pitch and wins a corner.
48' Free-kick for Liverpool! Lisandro Martinez with a clumsy challenge this time.
47' Good start from Liverpool, they're parked in the final third. Plenty of intent so far, and they'll need to make something of it.
46' United make their first change, as Anthony Martial comes on for Anthony Elanga.
THE SECOND HALF IS UNDERWAY! Manchester United with kick-off, attacking from left to right.
Back in a few minutes for the second half.
"United are at it!" 👊

Liverpool have been outplayed - no two ways about it at the moment. The visitors improved as the half progressed, but they never looked like the Liverpool of last season. Salah has been quiet, Diaz has only shown a few flashes, and their full-backs haven't stepped up. The midfield is looking dead at the moment - Klopp needs to make a few changes to get his equaliser.
A big-hearted performance from Manchester United, and they've given Old Trafford something to cheer about. Jadon Sancho had scored only three goals for the club before this game - he couldn't have picked a better time to score his fourth.
Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane have stood out in the first half - they've let nothing through. United's press has been troubling Liverpool, and they will need to hound their opponents with the same tenacity in the second half.
HALF-TIME: Manchester United 1-0 Liverpool
45+1' Robertson's free-kick is easily cleared by Marcus Rashford - Liverpool have been poor from dead-ball situations tonight.
Just the one minute of added time..
45' Yellow Card for Diogo Dalot. A lunge for the ball from Dalot but he was losing the foot-race with Diaz, and he gets booked in the process.
43' Another impressive move from Liverpool, this time down the left. Varane blocks Robertson's cross to concede a corner.
41' HOW DID THAT NOT GO IN?! Milner heads it down, and Fernandes slams it into Martinez on the goal line! Liverpool inches away from the equaliser.
40' Lisandro Martinez with a crucial block! Salah finds space and time to take a shot from a good angle, but the Argentine throws his body in the way. Concedes the corner, but brilliant defending from the former Ajax man!
38' Intricate football again from Liverpool and Luis Diaz, who tries to play Robertson in. The ball just gets away from the Scotsman, and Liverpool need to start again.
35' Chance for Liverpool! Great one-touch football from Salah and TAA, the latter gets a cross in and Elliott takes a shot that's blocked by Martinez.
34' Liverpool win the ball back in their own half, but they're far too slow on the counter. United get back in shape quickly and manage to peg their opponents back.
32' Alisson put under pressure by Robertson, and he's forced to kick it out for a throw! Impressive press again from Man United's forward line.
31' The corner's easily cleared by United. TAA gets a second chance to whip it in, but puts far too much on the cross. Goal kick for Manchester United.
30' Diaz links up with Robertson and wins a corner! Finally, some promise from the visitors.
29' Luis Diaz and Diogo Dalot having a real battle out on the left flank, and Dalot gets a round of applause after winning the free-kick.
28' Henderson scuffs his shot! Liverpool win the ball high up the pitch and Salah loops a ball to the edge of the area. Henderson attempts a volley, but produces next to no power.
27' Yellow Card for Raphael Varane. Luis Diaz had him in all sorts of trouble there, and the Frenchman takes one for the team.
25' Eriksen with a brilliant effort! That seemed destined for the top corner, and it needed a fingertip save from Allison. United win the corner but aren't able to do much with it.
24' Yellow Card for Joe Gomez. Elanga causing problems for TAA, and Gomez has to step in. Anthony Elanga squeezes into the gap between the two, and is clipped by Gomez's trailing leg. Another free-kick for United..
Liverpool are desperately missing Thiago and Fabinho in midfield. Not a modicum of control in this match, and they're suffering against Ten Hag's press.
20' Another counter by Man United, and they nearly get another! Sancho drives into the final third and plays it into Elanga's path, but Gomez is on hand to clear.
18' Luis Diaz! Looks for an immediate response - plays a neat one-two with Elliott and finds a yard of space, but United close him down quickly. He gets his shot away, but it's wide of the post.
Stat: This is an alarming one - Liverpool have conceded the first goal in each of their last seven Premier League games. Another poor start from the Merseysiders tonight.
A well-deserved goal for United - they've been the better team so far.
Amazing work from the former Dortmund man - arguably the best football he's played since he came to Old Trafford. Receives the ball in the penalty area, sits James Milner down, and gracefully slots it into the back of the net. Easy as you like!
16' JADON SANCHO!! GOAL FOR MANCHESTER UNITED, 1-0!!!
13' Salah looks to play a one-two with Trent Alexander-Arnold, but the pass from the defender is a touch too heavy. Throw-in for Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag's high press coming into play there. Liverpool need to calm things down at the moment..
Bruno Fernandes wins the ball back brilliantly and puts it on a platter for Anthony Elanga. The youngster has only Allison to beat and curls his shot past the keeper, but it clatters into the woodwork. A huge chance goes begging for the hosts!
10' ELANGA HITS THE POST! What a chance for Man United!
9' Tyrell Malacia whips in a ball that is far too deep, Bruno Fernandes tries to make something of it with a header back in, but it's a comfortable take for Allison.
8' Eriksen into the wall! A corner now for United..
7' Free-kick for Man United, just outside the box! Trent gives the ball away and fouls Rashford right at the edge of the penalty area. Big chance, this, for the Red Devils.
6' Firmino sets up James Milner with a very clever pass, and the veteran surprises Martinez with a quick turn. Varane gets across to cover, however, and Man United get the ball away.
4' Excellent work from Van Dijk! Rashford finds himself through on goal, but the Dutchman gets back brilliantly to block his shot. United's first chance of the game.
3' Challenges galore at Old Trafford! Both teams have set up a high press, and the ball's flying around the pitch. High-octane start.
1' The first challenge of the match and it's a heavy one from Lisandro Martinez - he clatters into Mohamed Salah in his own half. Liverpool take the free-kick quickly, but lose possession.
KICK-OFF! Liverpool get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Right, we now move to Old Trafford, and the players are on the field. Tensions are already high at the stadium, and fans have made their views on United's administration abundantly clear. It's now up to eleven players to pacify at least some of the fury.
A Manchester United reunion for Cristiano Ronaldo, @GNev2 and Roy Keane 🤗
Jurgen Klopp's pre-match interview has brought up a few interesting pointers. Liverpool did play Manchester United in pre-season, and they were completely outclassed by Erik ten Hag and his men. The journey has been almost exclusively downhill for the Old Trafford outfit ever since, however, and they have a task on their hands here.

#MUFC v #LFC team sheet. Ten Hag makes four changes - Ronaldo, Maguire, Shaw & Fred out, with Varane, Malacia, McTominay & Elanga brought in. Three Liverpool alterations - Firmino, Henderson & Gomez for Nunez, Fabinho & Phillips pic.twitter.com/mezJ61DQbi
Roberto Firmino's return is a massive boost for Liverpool - they don't have much else in the way of a fit forward line at the moment. Naby Keita is injured and has been ruled out, and with Fabinho dropping to the bench, Milner and Henderson will need to hold fort tonight. Harvey Elliott has been given a big opportunity tonight, and he'll want to grab it with both hands.
Harry Maguire and Cristiano Ronaldo both start on the bench for Manchester United 😬 pic.twitter.com/z66IiMfcHD
Massive news coming in from Old Trafford - Cristiano Ronaldo has been benched against Liverpool. Yes, you heard that right. In what is one of the biggest gambles so far this season, Erik ten Hag has decided to bench his biggest name in the biggest game of the season. A huge decision - one that can have massive ramifications for the club.
Anthony Elanga gets a surprise start alongside Rashford and Sancho, with Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes keeping their places in midfield. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Fred have lost their places in the team, with Tyrell Malacia taking Shaw's place in defence.

The line-ups are here!
🤯 Manchester United have conceded 4+ goals on 𝗦𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡 occasions in the Premier League since the start of last season. No team has done so on more occasions in that time
We're about 45 minutes away from the official line-ups tonight, and we might see a few surprises from both teams. Stay tuned for lineup and match updates right here!
Put this season's version of Manchester United into the picture, and Liverpool's failures pale in comparison. A poor showing against Brighton preceded an absolutely shocking 4-0 defeat against Brentford last week. Liverpool's squad crisis notwithstanding, if United don't clean up their act immediately, we could be in for a cricket score tonight.
Manchester United have already hit the panic button in the transfer market - they broke the bank for Casemiro and they're reportedly ready to break it again for Antony. Tonight, however, they'll have to make do with what they have. And what they have sees them rooted to the bottom of the relegation zone with exactly zero points. Erik ten Hag has his work cut out for him.
Liverpool have been better off in this fixture in recent years - in fact, they've won their last three games against Manchester United by an aggregate margin of 13-2. Mohamed Salah was the Red Devils' chief tormentor last season but hasn't been at his best this season. Then again, neither have Liverpool.
After a disappointing 2-2 draw in their first game of the season against Fulham, Liverpool dropped points yet again against Crystal Palace last week. With Roberto Firmino injured and Darwin Nunez suspended, the Merseysiders also have a few holes to plug in their starting eleven. There's still plenty of firepower there, and the onus will be on Salah and Luis Diaz to make their chances count tonight.
178 Premier League matches. 68 to Manchester United, and 60 to Liverpool. This match is - without a shadow of a doubt - the biggest game that English football has to offer. The Merseysiders drop to 16th place - they have only two points from three, five points behind Man City and seven behind league-leaders Arsenal.
Andrew Robertson off for Kostas Tsimikas.
