2018 Asian Games: Women's Basketball - India Vs Chinese Taipei

The ladies are scheduled to play their third group game within 24 hours against a tough opponent in the Unified Korean Team.

Takeaways from the game are quite similar to the previous one.

Although they did take care of their rebounding woes from Game 1, turnovers are still a huge issue for India and when their defense fails either due to superior offense or fatigue, those turnovers really start to pinch.

In the end, it was all about one quarter - the third one.

And it wasn't about offense, it was about defense! India scored 17, just like the first quarter but they allowed 31 points in the third quarter. Most of those 31 points came on fastbreaks of Indian misses. We spoke about how India were in the game despite their turnovers but those same turnovers start to hurt when you can't hold your opposition with defense.

Indian ended the game with 23 turnovers, 11 more than their opponents and 3 more than in their loss against Kazakhstan. Chinese Taipei's spectacular defense in the second half saw them finish with 10 steals for the game while India had 5.

Now, it's a 19-point game. Meanwhile, India commit offensive fouls on back-to-back possessions!

Things looking really tough now. They are now down by 16 with 1 minute left in the third quarter!

They now have an 8-point lead.

Peng S with back-to-back steals in India's half, which leads to two buckets for Taipei.

India don't panic with Sangeeta making one from the corner.

Huang P scores now and Taipei have a 2-point lead once again.

She has 7 now and the game is tied!

Peng S replies for Chinese Taipei but so does Jeena Skaria!

The Indian captain already has 5 points in only the first 1:30 minutes of the third quarter!

Taipei miss on their first attempt of the second half!

Important to remember once again!

Chinese Taipei is the best team in the group right now, having won their first two games. As mentioned earlier, they are also better ranked in the FIBA rankings, so this is a huge effort by India but it's important to keep it up in the second half.

India almost has double the turnovers in the game [11-5] but are in the game because of the FT game.

They are absolutely dominating that space, making 11-of-15 which is more than double the FT's that Chinese Taipei have attempted [0-1]!

An amazing first half by India but they go into halftime, trailing by 5.

They must come out of the locker room looking to cut into this lead and not let Chinese Taipei carry the momentum of the final minute of the 1st half into the second half!
