As Moxley and Tanahashi shake hands, they're attacked by Daniel Garcia and Chris Jericho. Eddie Kingston tries to make the save, but with Mox and Tanahashi wore out from the match, it's a two-on-one assault. Ortiz, Santana, and Wheeler Yuta rush the ring, followed shortly by the Jericho Appreciation Society.

Claudio Castagnoli joins the fray, laying out Jericho with a pop-up uppercut, and running into every member of the JAS with a series of uppercuts. William Regal slowly strolls down to the ring with a smirk on his face. Cool Hand Angelo Parker is launched out of the ring last after being spun around for nearly twenty rotations by Castagnoli.

Mox goes for another Paradigm Shift, but can't hit it. Tanahashi rolls him up twice, getting two very close calls. As Tana bounces off the ropes, he's met with a decapitating lariat. It only seems to fire up Tanahashi, who kicks out at one. A bloody mess, Mox hammers Tanahashi with elbows and locks him in a rear-naked choke. It's not enough, so he moves to the Bulldog Choke. Still, Tanahashi gets to his feet.

With Tanahashi worn down, Moxley hit the Death Rider to finally put him down for the count.

Jon Moxley defeats Hiroshi Tanahashi via pinfall.

Jon Moxley is now the interim AEW World Champion. The question is when does Mox meet CM Punk? Before we can get to that, though, Mox has to get through the Blood and Guts match.

Tanahashi counters a Paradigm Shift with two Twist and Shouts. However, Mox quickly recovers and hits the Paradigm Shift anyway. Tanahashi kicks out and rocks Mox with a headbutt and knee strike. At this point, Mox is a bloody mess. Tanahashi goes up top for the Aces High. The High Fly Low connects! 1-2-no! Mox kicks out and immediately rolls into the Bulldog Choke!!

Back in the ring, Tanahashi blocks a kick and goes for a dragon screw. Instead, Mox is able to counter with a cross-arm breaker. Tanahashi fights and claws his way out of the hold, catching Mox's arms and stomping him right on the face. After that, a sling blade sends Mox to the floor. Mox is cut open and is unable to avoid the high-angle cross body from the top.

Tanahashi doesn't get much time to recover out there, as Mox follows and drives him through a table with a uranage slam.

03:30 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Mox locks in a cloverleaf of his own, looking for an early submission on Tanahashi. As The Ace crawls toward the ropes, Mox transitions into an STF. Tanahashi makes the break and fires up on the former AEW World Champion. A somersault senton hits right on the button, nearly getting the pin right then and there. Mox avoids the sling blade, sending Tanahashi outside. When Tanahashi skins the cat, Mox sends him to the floor with a clothesline.

03:26 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Tanahashi gets the better of Moxley early on, looking to weaken the legs for the cloverleaf. Mox gets to the ropes, forcing the break. While Tanahashi is distracted by the ref, Mox drops him with a running cutter. Mox follows Tanahashi up top and rakes the back before going for a double under hook suplex. After that, a piledriver for a two-count.

03:21 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

It's time. The Interim AEW World Heavyweight Championship. We've got Jon Moxley and Hiroshi Tanahashi in a meeting Moxley's been dying to have for years. To quote Mark Henry, it's time for your main event!

Taz mentions that Cole seems hurt and is luckily able to walk out under his own power. Hopefully, it's nothing serious.

Jay White strikes, laying out Okada with the Bladerunner. He doesn't pin the Rainmaker, though. He pins a down and out Adam Cole.

Hangman avoids the Tombstone, but when he goes for the Buckshot he's sent into the ring post by Adam Cole. Okada counters the Panama Sunrise with a neck breaker and hits a high-flying elbow drop. He signals for the Rainmaker only for Cole to duck it. Okada dodges a Buckshot Lariat, but he and Page are hit with a pair of superkicks. Another superkick leaves Okada down for a near fall.

Every man gets back to their feet, trading punches and chops. Hangman hits a pop-up sit-out powerbomb for a two-count. Gedo runs in to stop the Buckshot Lariat, but Hangman is still able to hit the Deadeye. The Buckshot Lariat connects, only for Okada to break it up. With White and Cole down, it's time for Page and Okada to brawl once again.

03:03 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Jay White hits a trio of sleeper suplexes on Adam Cole, Kazuchika Okada, and Hangman Page. All four competitors lay each other out with some of their biggest shots, leaving them all down on the mat unable to capitalize on the situation.

03:02 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Finally, Adam Cole has turned on Jay White. The Switchblade throws up a Too Sweet, but when he walks past Cole, he is met with a backstabber. White ducks the Boom and plants Cole with a uranage.

03:00 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Hangman goes for the moonsault off the top, but Adam Cole catches him with a pinpoint superkick to the jaw in mid-air. Though Kazuchika Okada has finally gotten back to his feet, it's still two-on-one. Okada takes Cole to the top rope for a standing dropkick, sending him to the floor. He hits a running crossbody on Cole and White, sending them over the barricade. Back in the ring, Cole is locked in the money clip. Luckily, Jay White breaks it up.

As they notice Hangman moving, White goes to cut him off. Hangman sends him into the steel steps and gets into the ring to take on the Bullet Club tandem. After throwing White to the floor, he hits a fallaway slam on Cole. A dive for White and a dive onto Cole, giving Hangman a two-count in this championship bout.

Hangman takes Cole out with a suicide dive while Jay White drops Kazuchika Okada on the apron with a gordbuster. White and Cole team up to drive Page into the ramp with a double suplex. With the Hangman down for a while, they focus on Okada.

02:51 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

The Chicago crowd is on their feet for these men. Jay White gets them rowdy but rolls to the floor before the action begins. Adam Cole follows suit, leaving Kazuchika Okada and Hangman Page left to kick things off. That is, of course, until Cole and White divide and conquer. Cole drags Page to the floor while Jay White focuses on the Rainmaker.

Claudio keeps going for the giant swing but Zack won't let him catch him with it. He can't avoid all the European uppercuts, though, with ZSJ nearly knocked cold after a big one from the corner. Claudio finally gets the swing. Unfortunately, it's a short ride as ZSJ has been working on his arms all match. Next up is the Sharpshooter, but Zack counters into a heel hook.

02:32 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Claudio Castagnoli is caught on the top rope with a submission by Zack Sabre Jr., but when he's forced to relinquish the hold, Sabre's blasted with a flying uppercut. A gutwrench slam off Bret's rope sends Sabre halfway across the ring.

02:29 (GMT)27 JUN 2022

Zack Sabre Jr. goes for some sort of Kimura Lock but is instead bounced off Claudio's knee with repeated backbreakers. He's able to avoid the UFO spin, though, turning it into another armbar. Claudio stands up, taking him over the ropes as they both fall to the floor. Claudio walks up the stairs and dumps Sabre with a one-armed powerbomb. How he did that, we have no idea.
