Asian Games 2018 Day 2: Wrestling Live Score - Vinesh Phogat wins gold medal

For the second day in a row, India picked up a GOLD medal in wrestling. While it was Bajrang Punia who took home gold on day one, it was Vinesh Phogat who made history as she became the first Indian female wrestler to win gold at the Asian Games. Three others came close to a bronze medal but all three faltered at the last hurdle. Still, it was a historic day for Indian wrestling. Join us again tomorrow.

Iran claim the gold medal, China settle for Silver and that is the end of the wrestling action for the day.

Uzbekistan beat India 2-0 and claim the BRONZE medal in the 125kg category.

Under a minute to go and it looks like India have let go of another opportunity to pick up a bronze medal.

Sumit concedes another as Uzbekistan lead 2-0 with just under 2 minutes left in the bout.

Second penalty for India, now he needs to get a point inside 30 seconds or else he will concede the second point of the match.

We are back underway for the second period and Sumit is trying to get on the board quickly but has been unsuccessful so far.

At the end of the first period, Uzbekistan lead India 1-0. It has been defensive so far and a chess match to see who will blink first.

Davit picks up the first point with 75 seconds left in the first period.

Both wrestlers are going for a point but neither has been able to register on the board in the first minute.

It will be India vs Uzbekistan to see who walks away with the Bronze medal in the men's 125kg category.

Korea pick up the Bronze medal after beating Pakistan 9-0. Next up is India's Sumit Malik who will take on Uzbekistan's Davit Modzmanashvili in the other bronze medal clash.

The final wrestling event of the day is finally underway. Pakistan are taking on Korea in the first bronze medal match in the Men's freestyle 125 kg category.

Mongolia win the gold in the 62kg category and Kyrgyzstan have to be content with Silver

India's final hope of a medal in wrestling on day 2 rests on Sumit Malik's shoulders as he takes on Uzbekistan's Davit Modzmanashvili for the bronze medal in the men's freestyle 125kg bout.

It was a flawless performance from DPR Korea's Rim Jong Sim who completed a win on technical superiority. That means India have both of the bronze medal wrestling matches that they have taken part in so far today.

It is all over inside the first period. DPR Korea beat India 12-2. Sakshi Malik loses in the bronze medal match

Two points apiece for DPR Korea and India and the lead is down to six points.

Now Sakshi Malik is in huge trouble after a fantastic move from Rim gives her a 4-0 lead with 20 seconds to go in the first period.

A defensive start from both wrestlers. Neither yet to pick up a point in the first minute.

Now it will be India's Sakshi Malik vs DPR Korea's Rim Jong Sim for the other bronze medal.

In the 62kg event, Japan pick up the first Bronze medal.

It is DPR Korea who walk away with the GOLD. China take silver and Mongolia, Japan claim bronze in the 57kg category.

The gold medal encounter in this category will be between China and DPR Korea.

And it's all over Japan's Sakagami Katsuki beats Pooja Dhanda 6-1 to claim the Bronze medal.

Under a minute to go and Pooja needs a point and she needs it quickly. Now Katsuki is up 4-1.

Just over two minutes to go and Japan are in the lead, Pooja need a point if she wants a bronze medal for her efforts.

The second period is underway and immediately Pooja goes on the offensive but Katsuki counterattacks brilliantly to take a 2-1 lead.

At the end of the first period, India lead Japan 1-0. It might be enough for a win but Pooja has looked the more likely scorer so far.

Japan penalised and put on the passivity clock. And the time runs out in no time and India are up 1-0.

We are a minute and a half and it has been incredibly defensive from both wrestlers. Neither are looking like they are going to score a point soon.

And Pooja's bout is underway and immediately the Indian is off to an aggressive start.

Mongolia's Altansetseg Battsetseg claims Bronze. Next up is India's Pooja Dhanda who will take on Japan's Sakagami Katsuki for the other bronze medal in the 57kg category.

In the first Bronze medal match of the 57kg category sees Korea's Um Jieun take on Mongolia's Altansetseg Battsetseg.

DPR Korea claim GOLD while Kazakhstan take away the Silver in the 53kg freestyle.

Japan and Mongolia walk away with the Bronze medal in the 53kg category.

With that win, India pick up their second GOLD of Asian Games 2018 and are now in seventh place in the Asian Games 2018 Medal Tally.

Next is the 53kg, which is the only one of the women's wrestling categories remaining that doesn't feature an Indian.

In a low-scoring encounter, Phogat prevails 6-2 and picks up India's second gold medal of the Asian games so far. What a performance so far from Phogat.

And it is all over. Vinesh Phogat creates history. She becomes the first Indian woman wrestler to win GOLD in the Asian Games.

Just over 90 seconds to go and India are given a 30-second penalty for passive play and she can't quite get a point and Japan are off the mark.

A minute into the second period and Vinesh has foiled a brilliant offensive move. Still leads by four.
