A fantastic game at the Salt Lake Stadium ends in an away win for Bengaluru FC.

ATK Mohun Bagan had the better chances in the first half, but couldn't take them. The second half went by without as many clear-cut opportunities as the first for either team, but the Blues got themselves ahead thanks to an absolute pearler from Javi Hernandez, who struck a volley as sweet as they come. Roy Krishna added a second in the first minute of injury-time after Vishal Kaith failed to get enough to divert a cross from Pablo Perez away from the danger area.

However, ATKMB weren't ones to lie down just yet and got one back through Dimitri Petratos, whose effort from distance deflected in off Alan Costa. The Mariners couldn't create anything else in the time that remained, though, and fell to a defeat. They remain fourth with 27 points from 16 matches. Bengaluru, meanwhile, have effectively put Chennaiyin FC's hopes of qualifying at the verge of dropping to zero after moving back to sixth with 25 points from 17 games.

Both teams' destiny remains in their own hands for now, but as this thrilling ISL season has shown, a surprise is never off the cards.

ATK Mohun Bagan, as expected, have had more of the ball, but have moved at a slower pace than necessary at times. Right-back Asish Rai has come closest to scoring for them twice, forcing Gurpreet Singh Sandhu into a couple of decent saves. Bengaluru FC also haven't created too much of note, but did go very close when Sivasakthi was sent one-v-one with Vishal Kaith, only for the Mariners goalkeeper to sweep up and make a well-anticipated stop.

Bengaluru break from an ATK Mohun Bagan free-kick and Krishna finds Sivasakthi with a superb pass to set him one-on-one with Kaith, but the goalkeeper rushes out to the edge of his box and gets his body in the way to win the ball and stop the attack. Superb anticipation there.

ATK Mohun Bagan will welcome Bengaluru FC to the Salt lake Stadium in an important ISL 2022-23 league-stage clash on Sunday.

The Mariners are currently fourth in the standings with 27 points from 15 matches. While they are four points clear of sixth-placed Odisha FC, the topsy-turvy nature of the league this season means none of the teams bar the top two are safe. A win here against the Blues, who are seventh and need a win themselves to get back into the top six, seems imperative for the hosts.

Juan Ferrando's men enter this contest on the back of a 2-0 win against Odisha in their last game. ATKMB were helped by the Juggernauts' hapless display and got all three points courtesy of the in-form Dimitri Petratos' brace.

Bengaluru, meanwhile, emerged 3-1 victors against derby rivals Chennaiyin FC in their last match. The Blues punished the Marina Machans' littany of first-half errors as Sivasakthi Narayanan netted a brace while Rohit Kumar also scored before the break. Edwin Vanspaul's second-half strike was a mere consolation for Chennaiyin as Simon Grayson's team coasted to a deserved victory, their fourth in succession.
