The BWF World Championships kicks off today, July 30. All the big names in the Indian badminton circuit will be seen in action at the mega-event.

In his first encounter, 11th seed HS Prannoy will be taking on the unseeded Abhinav Manota of New Zealand. The ace Indian shuttler is currently ranked 11th in the world whereas his opponent Abhinav is ranked 109th.

It would not be a difficult challenge in Round 1 for the 26-year-old Prannoy and he is expected to surpass it easily. This would be more of a warm up game for him whereas Abhinav will try his level best to pull off an upset.

However, tougher challenges await the Kerala shuttler ahead in the draw, with Shi Yuqi likely to be his opponent for the quarterfinals, provided he surpasses Rounds 2 and 3.
