Had Madrid did not have the game in hand, tonight could be seen as Barcelona sending out a real title warning. It all depends on El Clasico now.

It was a special first half from the Barcelona front three, who were absolutely in the mood tonight. Luis Suarez opened the scoring with an acrobatic finish before Lionel Messi took matter in his own hands and hit another brace.

And it has proved to be another routine book for Barcelona, but it looked like anything but that before the start of the game. Barcelona go to the top of La Liga with a 3-0 win over the 4th placed side, albeit temporarily. That's all and Barcelona have wrapped up a comfortable 3-0 win over Sevilla.

90+1' RED CARD: Vitolo is given his marching orders for a foul on Neymar, it was the Spaniard's second booking of the game and he heads down the tunnel for a slightly early shower.

88' Correa throws his arms as he tries to make his way through Barcelona defence, he catches Busquets somewhere below the face and in characteristic fashion the Barcelona man goes down holding his face.

Barcelona are just happy to hold on to their lead now. Although they are still probing every now and then looking to make it 4-0. Is there one more goal on the cards?

85' Yellow Card: Alena - who just came on a few minutes back - is booked for a lunge on N'Zonzi.

83' Busquets and Escudero clash as the Barca man tries a cheeky backheel to recover the ball that was lost by Messi.

80' Substitution: Last change for Luis Enrique's side as Rakitic is replaced by Alena, the Croatian receives a standing ovation from the Camp Nou outfit.

78' Iniesta releases Alcacer down the middle and the Spaniard's first-time shot is blocked by Rico and Iniesta tries to bury it on the rebound but his shot sails wide.

75' Substitution: This is the last roll of the dice by Sampaoli as Iborra comes off for Stevan Jovetic

74' Umtiti puts in a last-ditch tackle on Mariano to deny him a shy at Ter Stegen's goal.

72' YELLOW CARD: Sergio Busquets has been booked for a lunge on Vitolo.

70' Ter Stegen tips a stinging drive from Sanabria over the bar.

69' Just as i said that, Messi pops up outside of Sevilla's box and plays a delicious through ball for Iniesta to bury, but the Spaniard cannot get the required contact and it remains 3-0.

68' Sevilla have started asking the right questions and Barcelona are in a spot of bother. The Seville outfit need to maintain this for the remaining 20 minutes if they are to even think of salvaging something from this tie.

65' Substitution: Alcacer comes on to take Suarez's place. The Uruguayan scored the opener with an acrobatic finish before setting up Messi's first.

64' Sarabia takes a shot but it ripples the side-netting. At least some positive signs for the away side?

In case you missed it: Messi celebrated his first goal in an uncharacteristic fashion with a two finger gesture across his face, it is to support a campaign run by Lionel Messi foundation to support children who have cancer.

61' Barcelona have been complacent in the second half and it is showing as Sevilla have had a couple of half-chances. Sampaoli's side have a corner but Barcelona clear.

Paco Alcacer is gearing up for coming on. He scored one and assisted another in the last game. Can he add to Sevilla's woes tonight?

59' Rakitic is down following a lunging tackle by a Sevilla defender. That looked worthy of a booking but the referee keeps cards pocketed on this occasion.

57' Yellow Card: Vitolo is booked for a crunching and late tackle on Neymar.

56' Neymar and Messi combine once again with the Argentine going to the byline before cutting the ball back for one of his teammates but his pass is cut out.

54' Sevilla play a long ball towards Correa but Pique holds him off and the ball goes out of play. Pique and Correa are involved in a slight flare up but it is all under control of the referee.

51' And Messi is denied by Rico. A poor backpass puts Rico under pressure as he is robbed of the ball by Suarez, who then passes the ball to Messi to bundle into an empty net from the edge of the box, Messi goes for his hat-trick but the Sevilla shot-stopper had recovered by then and is able to gather the shot.

49' Iniesta finds Neymar down the right, who tries to play a quick one-two with the World Cup winner but cannot get on the end of Iniesta's layoff in the box and Sevilla clear.

Sampaoli has rung the changes and will be hoping it pays dividends. We will have to wait and watch.

46' Substitution: And Sevilla make a double change at half-time with Kranevitter coming on to replace Mercado.
Antonio Sarabia has come on to replace Nasri.

46' And we are underway in the second half.

It is almost as if every time Messi touches the ball, he creates a record. How is anyone that good? It is truly unfair on others!

Stat Attack: Lionel Messi has scored 29 goals in 30 appearances against Sevilla, the most he has managed against any opposition. Ridiculous!

The second half is just around the corner, hang on as this promises to be another exciting half of beautiful football.

Barcelona are in the driving seat here courtesy of some outrageous play by the trio of Messi-Suarez-Neymar, in that order to be precise. The holy trinity are in the mood and Sevilla have their work cut out.

Jorge Sampaoli's side have been played out of the park for the better part of 45 minutes but what do you do against a Barcelona team in this sort of form? The Chilean will have to inspire his side to produce an epic fight back if they want to salvage something from tonight's game.

45' Half-Time: Barcelona 3-0 Sevilla

44' Barcelona are currently just toying with Sevilla. It is not a battle between 2nd and 4th, from the looks of it, the match is between an in-form Barcelona team versus a team destined for relegation.

Messi is in the mood tonight, Neymar is in the mood tonight, Suarez is in the mood tonight. This is eviseration!

41' Neymar goes on a jinking run and squares the ball for Messi, whose first-time shot is blocked by a Sevilla defender.

The board is up and it reads 64 percent possession in favour of Barcelona but that cannot tell you just how good the Catalans have been.

38' Barcelona are cruising here. They have an almost unassailable 3-0 lead against the team that were in the running for the La Liga title only a few weeks ago.

Lionel Messi has returned to the starting lineup and has immediately underlined his importance to this team.

Barcelona are having a field day and unless Sampaoli does something, this can turn ugly real fast.

Barcelona have a corner and it is only partially cleared by Sevilla. The ball ping-pongs and falls to the feet of Messi, who unleashes an unstoppable stop from 10 yards out, beating Rico at his near post.

31' Neymar plays a peach of a through ball to Messi, releasing him down the left, the Argentine tries to find Suarez in the middle but his cross is gathered well by Rico.
