Day 1 of Gold Coast Commonwealth Games brings to us the sport of Squash. The indoor fast-paced racquet sport is held in a special square enclosed court where the player's face-off against one other in five sets of 11. The first player to win three out of those five sets.
The high-intensity sport requires players to hit a small-sized ball inside a given area which consists of four playable walls and the floor. The players must hit the ball within a bounce. The bounces are not counted if the ball hits any of the walls. Vikram Malhotra will start his campaign in the round-of-64. Malhotra will face Zambia's Manda Chilambwe. The 28-year-old player from Maharashtra only made her world championship debut two years ago and has reached the quarterfinals stage once, in 2017. He is making his CWG debut.
His opponent, Chilambwe took part in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He won the Consolation Plate Finals in the singles category but was knocked out of doubles in round three.
