OUT! K Vignesh goes for a golden duck as his stumps are rattled. Vignesh K b Divakar 0 (1) And the final ball of the over is a dot and they need 24 off the last over. Kovai Kings 93/8 after 19 overs
Chance of a run-out but the throw from the bowler isn't up to the mark and Ashwin Venkatraman survives. He wanted a single that wasn't there and the throw was on the bounce and saved Ashwin. How crucial will that turn out to be?
OUT! Sanjay Yadav takes a brillaint catch at deep mid-wicket to get rid of Akkil Srinath. Half the Kovai Kings side is now back in the pavilion. Is that the beginning of the end? Akkil Srinaath c Sanjay Yadav b C Shriram 2(7)
When the bowling is so bad, sometimes it is difficult to get them away. Shriram C on debut bowled an over of long hops but only conceded three runs and there was a run-out as well.
RUN-OUT! What a throw from Francis Rokins and that is the end of Rohit R. Lackadaisical running and a direct hit meant that the promising partnership is broken. Rohith run out (Francis Rokins) 18(23)
OUT! Another one bites the dust. Antony Dhas departs. Divakar strikes and Kovai Kings are in deep trouble early. Antony Dhas c A Srinivas b R Divakar 2(3)
Brilliant over by Aushik Srinivas. After conceding just one off his first over, Aushik Srinivas continued his fine run as he conceded just one run and dismissed both the openers in his second.
Two wickets in three balls! After dismissing Abhinav Mukund, Aushik traps his opening partner M Shahrukh Khan plumb in front of the stumps. The danger man is gone and his wicket will give Veerans some hope.
After struggling to get going, skipper Abhinav Mukund lofts an Aushik Srinivas delivery and holes out to Sanjay Yadav at deep mid-wicket. I can bet that you won't see a shot like this from Mukund.
After conceding nine runs off the first over, VB Kanchi Veerans made a brilliant comeback as Aushik Srinivas gave away just one run off the second over. LKK 10/0 after 2 overs
An innings devoid of momentum. That was just what this was from the VB Kanchi Veerans. Barring captain Baba Aparajith and S Arun, no one else got going and that was evident from the fact that only three batsmen got into double digits. So it was no surprise to see that they struggled past 100, especially against a bowling attack that had Natarajan in splendid form as he finished with figures of 4-1-9-1 and Ajith Ram who picked up three wickets.
OUT! Nattu gets rid of Chandrasekhar. Kanchi are eight down. Another dot ball but importantly for the batting side, Aparajith will be on strike. S Chandrashekar c Venkataraman b T Natarajan 0(2)
OUT! Divakar is stumped going for the big slog. Rajesh MP bowls the penultimate over as well as any leg spinner would have hoped to. Just five runs and a wicket as well. R Divakar st Rohit b Rajesh MP 3 (7)
No hat-trick for Ajith Ram, who finishes his spell with figures of 3/16. He almost got three in the over though but Divakar's top edge fell in the middle of nowhere. Kanchi Veerans 107/6 after 18 overs
OUT! Ajith gets another and Rokins is gone first ball. He wants to go big but his stumps are castled. And just like that Ajith is on a hat-trick. Francis Rokins b S Ajith Ram 0(1)
OUT! Mokit picks out Nattu at deep mid-wicket and he simply cannot not be involved in the game. That was against the wind and Natarjan takes a good catch moving to his left. Mokit Hariharan c T Natarajan b S Ajith Ram 8(10)
Some much needed momentum for the Veerans as Aparajith is finding his rhythm and Mokit continues to rotate the strike. 12 runs off that over from Manigandan.
An expensive end to what was otherwise an excellent spell of fast bowling from K Vignesh. 13 runs came off his final over, including a four and a six to start the over. Kanchi Veerans 88/4 after 15 overs
OUT! Manigandan gets rid of the struggling Sanjay Yadav and it takes a good diving catch from Shahrukh Khan to get rid of the southpaw. Sanjay Yadav c Shahrukh Khan b S Manigandan 1(9)
Barring a sublime cover drive from Baba Aparajith, that was another over in which Kanchi couldn't really gain any momentum. Seven came off the 12th over.
Another tight over from Ajith Ram as just three runs came off it and suddenly, boundaries have become like an oasis in a desert, altogether infrequent.
OUT! K Vignesh strikes. Fast bowlers are never happy when they are hit for a boundary and Vignesh bowls a snorter that Arun can only feather to the keeper. Arun c Rohith b K Vignesh 29(30)
At the halfway stage, Veerans are yet to really get going and when you have a left-arm seamer like Natarajan, who is bowling at speed and with accuracy, it can't be easy. Just one run scored off Nattu so far in two overs.
